I only gave this one listen and that was more than enough. What a hunk of junk album. Give me BANGERZ any day of the week. "Love Me" is probably one of the only good songs.
I am making my way through it right now. It's like her other albums... Some really good songs, then some so so ones that I will always skip over. There's definitely no Hummingbird Heartbeat or Hot N Cold on here though.
Mostly forgettable imho, but I enjoyed the 90's house vibe of "Walking on Air" and the disco thump of "Birthday".

The lyrics on this thing are so atrocious. Maybe they were on Teenage Dream but the songs seemed more fun and you focused less on the lyrics. Things like "They say one man's trash is another man's treasure, The two of us together makes everything glitter" or "You are my hurt locker lover, Keep me walking on a wire." Just dumb.
I think it's great. There's some fillers towards the end of the album, but there's so many potential hits throughout.
KP has never tried to make big statements with her music or lyrics. This album is no different. Still lots of fun, but more grown up.
The endless amount of guest artists on BANGERZ was a big turn off for me. Katy isn't the strongest singer, but she's certainly more of a musician than Miley (or Britney who has an album coming).

As for the album, I like it. It's not jam-packed with could-be-number-ones, like TEENAGE DREAM was, but it's a bit more of a mature album than that one. Yeah, some of the lyrics are awful, but the tunes are catchy. I think "Birthday" is my favorite right now. As for her singing abilities, I saw her on tour a few summers back and had very low expectations, having seen her flounder while performing live on shows like AMERICAN IDOL and the like, and she really impressed me. She definitely didn't lip synch and I thought she sounded really strong. I had a blast!
I also like it.
Katy singing her powerful new ballad "By The Grace of God" live.
I think she sounds pretty raw and great.

I think the best songs are Legendary Lovers, Walking On Air, Dark Horse, and Birthday. I think the second half is a bit too overproduced. Also, I adore the live version of By The Grace Of God, but I think the studio version is a bit too overproduced, much like "Wide Awake." I think it had a lot of potential, and it met my expectations but did not exceed them. I have high expectations for "Artpop" and "Britney Jean" later this year.
As a longtime big Britney fan, I really have high hopes for BRITNEY JEAN. I...wasn't wild about "Work Bitch" on first listen, but I like it now. I just loved FEMME FATALE, and I'm hoping she gives us more of that Britney and less of will.i.am/club music Britney.
