Keurig Coffee Machines

Does anyone here have one? How is it? Is the coffee good? Easy to make? Easy to clean?

My family's office has one, and I have used it before. The coffee is good and there are what seems to be a million verities of teas, coffees and hot chocolate you can use in the machine. There isn't much in the need of cleaning to be done, considering that everything is contained within the K-cups.

However, I think that it depends on how much coffee you and your household drink. At home, I have a machine that grinds and brews the beans. And, a Keurig machine wouldn't work considering that my family are big coffee drinkers and can go through a lot. K-cups are around ten bucks a pack and can be pricy if you are a big coffee drinker. However, if you only want a couple of cups a day, then I would say that the Keurig machine is fine for you.

I got one as a gift and used it for about a year. I loved it for the speed and ease in which your coffee is ready. However, I ended up putting it away somewhere for possible future use. It was taking up too much room on my kitchen counter, and the coffee is too expensive when you compare it to so many other good coffees.

I swear by the good old CHEMEX, w/brown filters only. Simple, elegant, perfect coffee. 35 yrs and counting. I grind my beans at home.

I also have a french press, which is excellent, but have negative experiences w/all electric coffeepots.

Dame, I love the Keurig brewer. Started with the mini (single-serving) one and then upgraded to the Platinum with a reservoir for multi-servings. Costco carries the Platinum for a good price ($149) and it comes with 60 sample K-cups. It is good to buy from Costco, and save your receipt, because they will accept a return for either money back or replacement, eliminating a potential interaction with Keurig to get a repair/replacement under warranty. Key thing for me has been coffee selection. I like a strong brew and have found that the Barista French is the best. Tully's French a strong second. If you use weak blends you will be disappointed if you are used to coffee-house coffee. There are many coupons out there (Bed Bath and Beyond, Fresh and Easy, etc.) that if judiciously used will allow you to get the best K-cups at a discount that makes the K-cups more affordable. No hassle. No waste. I love it!

We had a Kuerig at my last job and it works well. They do have the biggest variety of beverages available and the ability to brew your own. I do prefer the Tassimo with my Gevalia, however. Did your Tassimo break down, Dame? I got my second Tassimo about two years ago and like it even more than the original.

Love my Keurig. They have great customer service. When my last one started giving me trouble they replaced it with a brand new one...free of charge.

We have a couple of B70 Platinum models and I am a reluctant, likely soon-to-be former fan. I think I am really more a fan of the concept, than of the actual, real-life Keurig brewers. I say this because I (and other family members) have had many, many problems with the machines themselves, not due to any misuse or lack of care, and in spite of using in accordance with the operating and cleaning instructions, which call for minimal maintenance. Keurig customer service has been an absolute pleasure to deal with, but I have dealt with them way, way too often, and don't want to have to deal with them at all – especially before I’ve had my coffee! My first brewer broke after 13 months, and they replaced it, even though it was just after the 12 month warranty period. The replacement process is easy, and is at no cost, either of time or money (they say just throw away the broken machine (which makes me nuts to think about!) and they ask that you send back the piece that holds the K cups in place). The initial replacement brewer never worked right and they replaced it immediately. And then I have had a string of brewers that worked for maybe a couple of months, and then had what is called a "Prime" error - which is like the blue screen of death - and from which there is no return. It may just be that particular Keurig model, I'm not sure, as they keep replacing with the same model as the broken brewer, but given how quickly, and how often, they have replaced the brewer(s), it's clear that I'm not alone. It’s great that they stand behind their product, and I'll keep using a Keurig brewer as long as they keep replacing it for free when it inevitably breaks after just a couple of months of use, but, given my track record, I certainly wouldn't buy that model again, and more likely would go with a different brand. I’d switch now, if I could decide that there’s a better, more reliable brand of single cup brewer, but, from what I read, I tend to think this entire category of brewer is just flawed.

When I worked out east for the charity I used to run marathons for, we had a Keurig in our office. Some of my coworkers just wanted tea and found that if we didn't rinse out the k-cup holder in the machine often the coffee taste would get into their tea. We didn't have any problems once I started rinsing out the holder daily though. Just a heads up for maximum enjoyment.

LOOVE my keurig.

I just replace my original (that I've had for more than 5 years) It was still working "fine", but I got gobsmacked by a QVC presentation of a new one and snagged it. It's even better.

I have mine in my classroom and easily use it 3 times a day. Some of my kids (HS) bring in their own k-cups for when they hang out in my room instead of study hall so it gets used a LOT.

I also have a personal one at home, which works great. I love the variety of coffees (I usually buy sampler collections through Amazon.)

Picked 2 up at Costco. One for me and one for a gift. Also bought a box of Newmans Own coffee made for Keurig. Any opinions on that?
