I wonder what brought this on?

Will he be in rehab by the end of the day?
They'll do anything to revive a dead career.

I'm interested in seeing how the yentas on The View will discuss it. They dragged Mel Gibson through the mud.
I hope he's still raking in the residuals from "Seinfeld" because he'll never work in this town again.
Goth, both of them are wacked.

Kramer can't be racist! Some of his best lawyers are black.

Does anyone find the poll a little bottom-of-the-barrel?
"Who's worse? Mel Gibson or Michael Richards?"
I did find the poll ridiculous. Choose who is worse between two racists? Duh
You're looking at it wrong. Here's what the question is really asking:
Which is worse? Hating Jews, or hating black people?
Think how confused David Duke must be right now!
Are you taking a poll, Calvin? This could be fun!
What are he and Mel Gibson drinking?
I've heard sterno will do that to you.

I just can't believe that someone has the audacity to do this in front of a crowd of people. I mean, I can't believe someone would say these things in the FIRST place. Now, I'm not so naive as to believe that there aren't people who feel this way about other human beings. BUT, I am bewildered as to how someone would have this complete lapse of judgement and deliver racial tirade to a crowd of people--half of whom, I'm sure, were African American. I just don't get it.
Is Kramer now going to get together with black leaders to discuss how to make the world a better place?
The great Reverend Whoopi Goldberg once wrote a book called Book. In Book, she made a very good case about how we pounce on someone in the public eye and tear them apart when they make a mistake. As if we are perfect individuals ourselves. I was all of what?...13 when I read Book, but it made me think twice about how I am often guilty of persecution towards another when I commit the same acts. (Not comparing myself to Michael Richards, but in general.)
I just hope he realizes what he said, how it was inappropriate and hurtful, apologizes with sincerity, and moves on to other things.

Well, to be fair, I'd pounce on anyone hurling the n-word at someone, famous or not.

I understand the concept, but not all mistakes are created equal. Some "mistakes" (if that is how you would categorize this rather intentional outburst) are actually considered crimes and others are justified in punishment. Otherwise, they how would anyone know that it was a "mistake"? I could see how such a major public act of racism in a post-Civil Rights America might be considered reprehensible. I wonder what Whoopi has to say about this particular little tirade?
I can only think maybe we thought he was being funny/edgy?
I don't know...fortunately he doesn't have a career to destroy.
"How the hell should I know why there were Nazis? I don't know how the can opener works." HANNAH AND HER SISTERS
Yes, that was REALLY uncalled for. But, the thing that gets me, is that I have seen MANY, MANY black performers just tear white people apart and calling them all sorts of names, and nothing is done about it. But, the moment a white person does the same thing, it's racist. Granted, what "Kramer" did was cross the line and deserves to be punished.
I am not talking about acts committed that are punishable by law.
I am talking about social comments, words, things we say...and then how people become the iron fist of judgement on us when we make a mistake.
Not committing murder, theft, or anything that would be physically harmful or deceitful.
We're all guilty of it. On both sides.
I am not defending Mr. Richards' comments or his feelings. I do not agree with him and think it was inappropriate...but I hope he does the right thing afterwards.
I also see why so many people are fascinated by this slip-up. I do hope, in the bottom of my heart, he was going for shock value and using a word that people found offensive for shock purposes. Not because he racist himself.

Sort of like when Ted Danson appeared in black-face doing a skit Whoopi wrote? Not all "mistakes" are equal.
