BTW, did anyone else feel like moving to SF after this most recent ep?
No, but I did feel like having my man do what Richie was doing to Patrick...and then finish it off the way he did. That was HOT.
@ Namo: We all know you hated the episode because you suffer from bottom shame. But we still love you and that's all that matters. xoxo

Preach, Carlos! I almost fell off the couch and made a phone call... and you had better believe I had several friends talking bout that scene today. It was spot on hot, explicit and never overly revealing or gratuitous. Perfectly done.
No, all this show does is make me want to visit San Fran, but not during Folsom and never to live there. I enjoy the pretty scenery, but this offers me no connection to the city in any way that leaves a desire.
CATS, I've known many tops to have fun with other tops... doesn't mean it could work as a couple long term without guest stars, but two tops can CERTAINLY have a very good time. Step one is forgetting about this cliche idea that all sexual encounters have to involve full on intercourse. There are a LOT of ways to have fun, that is but one.

It is a HUGE pet peeve of mine when I go out and so many people in a bar think that speaking to someone means you want to sleep with that person and that you always have to have condoms and lube at the ready because, of course, potential playtime HAS to go there. Sorry, kids. There is a whole menu of things to sample IF I took you home... don't ned to eat the same thing each time... and just because I smile and said "excuse me" when I scoot in next to you at the bar so that I can order a drink...
I know people like to blameporn for a myriad of things, but I think it may play a part here at least with people who first experience gay sexuality via porn. Unless it's some sort of fetish site (even just an oral sex one) the "storyline" for porn seems to be that every other type of sex ultimately leads to one of the people getting ****ed.
Aww Horse, don't go. I suppose you aren't reading this, but the one line of dialogue in the preview was not really a big shocking spoiler, IMHO.

Last night's episode... frustrating, infuriating, authentic, enlightening and, ultimately, kind of brilliant. At least, IMO. A friend of mine who isn't a fan of the show thinks all of the characters are miserable people. I don't agree. Flawed and issue-laden for sure, but if they weren't, there wouldn't be a show. My feelings for almost all of the characters shifts from one episode to another. Sometimes even from one scene to another. But that's one of the things I like most about the series. I find the characters to be complex, contradictory and ambiguous. That said, Augustine is really getting on my every last gay nerve!

How so?! I don't get that impression from any of those characters at all. Maybe he got that impression from this last episode? I haven't watched yet. I will play catch up tonight.
I'm not sure how I feel about this episode. Augustine is judgmental and a liar and I got the impression that Patrick is embarrassed of Richie despite claiming not to be. He didn't even introduce Richie to his boss as his boyfriend and I got the impression that he was afraid to because there are still feelings there and he didn't want to make himself look unavailable.
I think that Patrick is clearly embarrassed of Richie, and with judgmental, bitchy friends like Augustine, is it any wonder? And, of course, his feelings for his boss, and the fact that the boss' boyfriend appears to have so much going for himself, also contributes to Patrick's feelings of inadequacy in the boyfriend/relationship department. To his credit, he's trying to fight against it, but I have a feeling it's going to be an uphill battle. -- Augustine clearly has major insecurity issues, and isn't really happy or completely satisfied in his relationship, or with his life, in general. I also think that Augustine is jealous of Patrick for having seemingly found happiness in his relationship with Carlos. Happiness which continues to allude Augustine. Misery loves company. -- Dom, while more likeable than Augustine, at least imo, has his own insecurity issues, mostly surrounding his age, which is why he continues to seek out the interest and approval of younger guys. I think he has feelings for Scott Bakula's character, but he's fighting against them. Then, when he finds out he is willing to help him out financially with his business venture, he thinks that he must be doing it for what he can get out of it, sexually or romantically. I think the fact the he turned does his advances will just make Dom want him even more, since he appears to be in the habit of seeking out and wanting that which is often out of his reach. -- Like I said, they are all flawed individuals with definite relationship and intimacy issues. And again, if they weren't, there would be a show. But, for the most part, they're generally good people with admirable traits, as well. Just like me, and most of my friends, gay and straight. That's why I love the show and the characters. For me, it rings true on so many levels, and rarely strikes a false note.
I'm not correcting anybody's post, because last night's episode of LOOKING used the phrase and last week's NEW GIRL used it several times.
But when did "of" become the preposition of choice to use with "embarrassed"? As in I am "embarrassed of" my boyfriend because he is working class.
Back in the Victorian era, when I was at prep school in the English countryside (not really), there were two choices. You were "embarrassed by" someone whose behavior or attributes reflected badly on you. Or you were "embarrassed for" someone whose behavior reflected badly on him.
Whence comes "embarrassed of"??!!!

Have no idea. Don't care. And I'm embarrassed of you for having posted that.
I can live with your embarrassment, Carlos, at least after I've had a good cry and far too many beers. And I'm not complaining that language changes.
I just interested in how and why... "Embarrassed of" is new to me and suddenly it seems to be everywhere.
Until somebody tells me otherwise, I'm blaming Zooey Deschannel.

Oh Gaveston, that was just good-natured ribbing on my part.
I honestly have no idea when the use of "embarrassed of" started but "embarrassed for" and "embarrassed by" are both grammatically correct.
But blaming Zooey Deschanel is a good start...lol

My interest is waning of this show. They gotta lose the Richie character. WIth his scapulars.
This week's episode got me back to hating this show.
Curious how people feel about Richie's line "boyfriend... and a WASP too.... score!" He played it somewhat glib but still.... WTF?
