I have not heard of any letters or complaints regarding this issue coming in to CBS. They might have yet to come in, as of right now I have not heard anything. If you have heard of any such complaints or letters, please post a link. You rely way too much on us to take you on your word and frankly, you lie. You also distort the facts and are very clumsy when it comes to quoting people.You are not a credible poster and I have corrected you on 2 major errors,which you are not man or big enough to fess up to.

You said he should make his apology clearer. Well which is it? You have been claiming he already apologized,if you honestly believe that then why should he have to make it clear? FACT IS< he never apologized and you know it. You read his body language and somehow knew what he actually meant, of course all of this having not watched the clip til today. You are BWW's very own Kreskin!

Again, this is where you fail. The 14 year old was not the one who had been previously knocked up. If everyone thought Dave was talking about the 14 year old, wouldn't you think the audience would have hissed or booed or reacted differently?Do you honestly think David Letterman is the type of guy who would joke on national TV about raping a 14 year old? Are you seriously that stupid? I am asking. I think I know the answer,but seriously, do you really believe in your world Dave would risk EVERYTHING by telling such a joke?

You did suggest he was telling such a tasteless joke. Do not try and back peddle on this. Sarah Palin said the same thing today and you sound just like her.

I do read. I also watch the clips I am talking about. You on the other hand start rambling on for 2 or 3 pages and then on the 4th page decide to watch the clip for the first time.

You know why this subject so boring? Because you lied and you hate being reminded of it. You even bragged how you don't watch TV and didn't watch the clip, yet you had plenty to say about something you had no idea about.Now you are trying to downplay the fact that you like Palin are suggesting Dave advocates rape. I find that disgusting.

The reference, Diva, is to the tactic of harassing sponsors to put economic pressure on the network and the TV show. That's done all the time, by various political and social groups. It's just a "next step" you have to anticipate is likely to happen.

Which is perhaps part of what Letterman was joking about when he was saying he wasn't sure if he'd have a show tomorrow.

And Diva, Letterman's factual mistake regarding which daughter was actually there at the ball park is what opened him up to problems; that's why he knew he had to acknowledge it and did make humble pie. If you read the articles on it, other media professionals have criticized the lack of fact-checking. Ho hum. Not that exciting. A mistake was made and there was an apology.

You commented on the piece without watching the actual clip until today.Then you parrot the same thing Sarah Palin is saying about rape and minors. You are the definition of a very sick joke.

Well, I made some comments on my college friend's facebook home page about this and she deleted all of my comments. She's a VERY conservative Catholic from Miami and was disgusted about this whole Letterman comment accusing him of suggesting that A-Rod f**cked Palin's daughter. She thought I would jump on the bandwagon with her. I told her my 14 year-old daughter and I thought it was just a joke and that the discussion did not need to be dragged on by Palin. Also said A-Rod is not complaining because according to her theory, A-Rod should be more mad because the comment implies that he would rape a 14 year-old girl. It's funny how that thread got deleted.

I brought up the fact that Chelsea Clinton was the butt of many jokes and that even SNL did a parody of her. My college fb friend said that after that SNL skit, the jokes about Chelsea stopped immediately. She also told me to check my facts. I don't remember any of the jokes stopping immediately!

I was up at SNL during the Chelsea Clinton era. Yes they made fun of her on Waynes' World Saying "Chelsea Clinton wouldn't give a dog a bone". Hillary called NBC and complained saying that she and her husband were fair game but her daughter was off limits as the brunt of mean spirited jokes. Mike Myers and Dana Carvey made a televised apology to Chelsea Clinton. Chelsea continued to make appearances on SNL (played by Julia Sweeny) but she was never the brunt of the joke. One notible appearance was Madonna singing Happy Birthday Mr President ala Marilyn Monroe and flirting, Chelsea realizing she was referring to her instead of Bill.

Thanks Snafu- I do remember all of that but to me making a little fun of her appearance still makes it a joke as it was a little mean spirited. The joke wasn't like the A-Rod thing with Letterman but people were still making fun of her. Also, Hillary didn't go on all the news programs to make a big deal over it- granted- we weren't news 24/7 back then but she was able to get her point across without going public and without threatening those involved. Chelsea got the last laugh though- she is absolutely beautiful, well-spoken, and extremely intelligent. In other words, she is nothing like the Palins!

See, after Hillary called and straightened it out they never made fun of the way Chelsea looked. They just portrayed her as a kid. Actually Julia Sweeny made a very attractive young Chelsea Clinton. The joke of the Madonna sketch was more aimed at Madonna's bisexuality, and Bill Clinton thinking the amorous glances were for him. Remember it was the time of her book SEX.
Chelsea did have the last laugh. I saw her at HAIR in the park last summer and she is a beautiful woman!
Palin is all over this like white on rice because playing the victim and destroying her enemies through lies and exaggerations is her M.O.
