umm whose saying it's a civil rights amendment because it's anti civil rights if you ask me, but I agree with Pal Joey it's the HATE AMENDMENT...
One of AmericaBlog's readers sent in this transcript of a telephone call with Senator Crapo's (R-ID) office (yes, that's REALLY his name):
===
Is Senator Crapo in favor of traditional marriage?
Yes he is, he's a cosponsor of the bill.
He is? Can you tell me if he masturbates?
I could not tell you that.
Can you tell me, do you masturbate?
I cannot tell you that either.
Can you tell me, does he commit sodomy, analingus, cunnilingus or fellatio?
What is the purpose of this questioning?
It's regarding his views on traditional marriage.
Okay, he supports the bill.
Yes, but could you tell me does he commit sodomy?
I could not give you an answer on that.
Is he willing to pledge that he has not or will not commit sodomy?
I could not answer that.
Has he ever had sex before or outside of marriage?
Again, sir, what is the point of this questioning?
It's regarding traditional marriage and how far his support goes.
Any one of those questions I could not answer.
Have you ever had sex outside of marriage?
Again, I will not answer that.
It's nobody's business, right?
That's right.
Okay, thank you.

What I just can't wrap my head around is WHY? Are people so out of touch that they still believe homosexuality is a choice? Do they think they're taking the moral highground? Also, how in the world does legalizing gay marriage TAKE AWAY from the sanctity of a straight person's marriage?
Funny how it's always a big fat no to big government into the private affairs (i.e. business affairs) of Americans, unless, of course, it's a telescope into a gay person's bedroom or a woman's uterus. F--kwads!
Why does Idaho get two senators? I know it's in the constitution, but our founding fathers could have never pictured such a desolate wasteland as being a part of our country.
two words, cal: freedom fries.
It is simple why they are doing this now, and why it is working to an extent...to shift focus from the mess he's making of everything that people are really concerned with...but people will be distracted for only so long.
Yeah, well, one more Ruby Ridge, and we should go all Puerto Rico on their asses.
Gee, I wonder what Mary Cheney has to say about all of this. And she thought Kerry and Edwards were the bad guys.

Sen. Specter's office was polling his constituents last week about their feelings on this issue in general. My family got a phone call, and was surprised that he was actually trying to find out what the voters think. (As opposed to most politicians that just vote what they want to)
Mary Cheney STILL thinks Kerry and Edwards are the bad guys.
By the way, where IS Mary today? And where is DICK?

Mary Cheney doesn't have to worry about any of this. She and her partner are guaranteed a life of confort wether or not they get married. They don't have to worry about one or the other needing health insurance or any of the other things that many gay couples have to deal with each day.
What not only kills me other than the names of those senators on that list, but those who are gay who voted for Bush in the first place (I know two).
