I feel like it was a trainwreck. What it wasn't, even for a hot second, was fun. It wasn't even campy. It was just stupid.

Oh, I hear you there. It took me two tries over two days to get through the whole thing. Mystifying, more than anything else. It was sort of like watching a high school actor act. Like she never evoked Elizabeth Taylor for a second. I kind of wondered if that were the actual intention and she was punking us.

The whole thing is a weird black hole for me. As Namo said, she brought nothing to the role. First of all, I guess they couldn't wait a few days for her bronchitis to heal. Her nasal voice and laryngitis took me right out of the movie and into a sick room right away. Second of all, where was the director? Also snoozing? there had to have been something he could do to evoke one iota of Liz, even if it meant something as basic as blocking. Third of all, couldn't they make her up to look a skosh older than 20? I mean, really-my parrot reminds me more of Liz Taylor than Lohan. It was a film about an actor who had a slight resemblance to Richard Burton (in the voice) playing opposite Lindsay Lohan as Lindsay Lohan. Should have been titled "Lindsay Lohan and Dick."

PRS, I think the only way to enjoy this movie is to re-visit Dame's 420 thread *and* stock up on booze, that's how I watched it. I really enjoyed the experience of watching, it's so awful! Though it's so repetitive from scene to scene that it's not as fun as MOMMIE DEAREST, which at this point has to be an amazing movie given how little other movies are able to replicate its camp element.
Lohan must have clearly been completely uninterested in the process of making the movie or she just can't act anymore. Yes, she was miscast but she could have tried to pull off some kind of performance. Instead, we get what seems like lost footage of FREAKY FRIDAY with her screaming like she's still a teenager and her mommy won't let her go to a party. There's absolutely no pathos, no attempt at creating a character, nothing to hold on to. The guy playing Richard Burton was so uninteresting to me and the director seemed like he had zero idea of how to get a good take, an interesting composition, or anything that remotely had any sense of consistency (though it is pretty consistent in how terrible the movie is). What a mess.

THIS. That's what I've been trying to articulate. I can't even feel sorry for her anymore because she really was the very picture of "phoning it in." And since she was always in the tabloids, everyone knew while she was making it she was dicking around and still getting into trouble.

Or maybe people are catching on to the fact that Lindsay Lohan plays herself in every damn movie. The roles always get the attention, never the performance because she never turns IN a performance. It's always Lindsay being Lindsay.

I managed to get in 10 minutes of this last night. I missed the first hour, but decided that didn't matter too much. And that is 10 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Seriously, if I had no idea what the movie was supposed to be about, that certainly would not have cleared it at all. If it had just been laughable bad, I probably would have continued. But, it was boring bad. Bad acting too.

In the weeks (months?) leading up to the actual broadcast, I thought she was going to pull it off. It made enough sense physically, and I thought she'd really pull out the stops and show everyone what she could do.
I read somewhere yesterday that "sources close to the young star" say that she's really devastated by the reviews. But honestly, the whole performance just looked like she couldn't be bothered.

I couldn't even stand the promotional spots for it (that have been airing non-stop on Lifetime for over a month!), so I could NOT bring myself to watch this...
Perhaps this will be a wake-up call for La Lohan that she has to commit to her profession or find something else to do.

I was actually rather impressed by Bowler's accent, but, oh, my goodness, Lindsay. As everyone's been saying, she didn't seem even vaguely like Liz for one second.

There was literally NO attempt made to make her look age-appropriate at any point. Burton looked a good 20 years older throughout and Lohan looked too young from the first scene. In that shot posted above Liz should have been almost 60.

99% of that budget went into Lindsay's salary and the actually fantastic wardrobe.
I was hoping for camp. For self-awareness at how ridiculous the script and dialogue was. There flashes when she took off those huge sunglasses while throwing shade but that was one scene. I thought she would channel her role in Machete where there appeared to be self-awareness.

I LOVED the moment when they were checking into a hotel and "Liz" said "we have a room.....under the name SMITH" and she pulls down her sunglasses to give the desk clerk a glimpse at those famous violet eyes--- that were not even a little bit violet in this film.

Haha, Joe, I noticed that too! As others have said, she also looked weirdly younger than she even is (which is shocking since in real life, when she doesn't have all the makeup and glamour lighting, she looks so much older than her age), especially in scenes she was supposed to look like she was 40. Did anyone else also notice how she kept complaining about her weight when she was ridiculously skinny? It was fantastic getting to see the light padding on her when she's complaining about being huge, you can even see her skinny arms and face throughout, not an ounce of fat in her body, so absurd.
Some critics say Bowler does better. I think that is so relative, to me he was uninteresting, not atrocious like she was, but I couldn't stand how little presence, how boring and how much of a dick he came off as. I also haaated the scenes where he's pissed he didn't win an Oscar, they were so dumb.

It is, perhaps, the worst script I've ever encountered. It was shocking to realize that someone was tasked with creating this 'work'. I've written better scripts whilst high...and I'm not a particularly good writer. And I'm useless when high.
Lohan was all kinds of Joan and Melissa Rivers for me...laughter through tears. It's really sad to see someone so compromised by their abuse of drugs. But LORD some of those moments were hilarious. 'I'M BORED' being a particularly brilliant moment of terrible writing and acting.
And were all the 'locations' filmed in front of a green screen? I couldn't get over it. The last half hour was a hideous slog, till she donned Liz's 80's drag...and then the best fainting scene in the history of film happened.
