LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Lindsay Lohan is set to bring a long-forgotten Tennessee Williams screenplay, "The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond," to the big screen.
The screenplay tells the story of Fisher Willow (Lohan), the disliked 1920s Memphis debutante daughter of a plantation owner with a distaste for narrow-minded people and a penchant for shocking and insulting those around her.
After returning from studies overseas, Fisher falls in love with Jimmy (played by Chris Evans), the down-and-out son of an alcoholic father (David Strathairn) and an insane mother who works at a store on her family's plantation. She tries to pass him off as an upper-class suitor to appease the spinster aunt (Ann-Margret) who controls her family's fortune, but when she loses a diamond, it places their tenuous relationship in further jeopardy. Ellen Burstyn is attached to play Fisher's mother.

sounds fascinating! i sure hope it actually gets made ...
I hope it's like Boom! I love William's screenplay work.
Replace the talent-free Lohan, and it sounds like a great project...
The shame is that Lohan actually has talent...which makes it sad to see her skanky-ass bitch ways take over her work life. I am pretty sure a big draw for her to do this movie is Ann Margaret, who Lohan has always cited as a big inspiration to her.

I'm not sure what I think of Lohan at this point. She doesn't seem very strong in the clips I've seen of her from Bobby.
I've seen one trailer for Bobby and Lohan wasn't even shown.
I think she's a great comedic actor, but I've yet to see her in a drama.
I can't wait to see this.
I also love Tennesse's work.
Is this ever coming out? I'm starting to think it's all a big prank on the gays.
According to the ever-unreliable IMDB, yes. Great cast! Trading Lohan in for Howard is a bit like trading a Pinto in for a Bentley.
Loss of a Teardrop Diamond
Chris Evans on the film:
MoviesOnline: What about The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond? That’s a Tennessee Williams I’m not familiar with.
Chris: I know. It’s amazing. No one is. I have friends who are Tennessee Williams nuts and they’ve never heard of it. It’s a screenplay he wrote. It wasn’t a play. It was a screenplay and it was one of the only things he’s written that hasn’t been turned into a film yet so it was really exciting for all of us who are theater fans, Tennessee Williams fans. I shot that after this and before Hong Kong. It’s Bryce Dallas Howard, Ellen Burstyn, Ann Margret, some really, really talented actresses.
MoviesOnline: And you!
Chris: How did I get in there? The story is Bryce Dallas Howard plays this Southern debutante in the ‘20’s. She’s not particularly well-liked in the town. She’s very spoiled, very arrogant and very ostentatious. She has to be escorted to these debutante balls which they have every other month down there and none of the guys will take her. She kind of employs my services. I’m this poor farm hand. My father’s a drunk and my mother is committed. He’s kind of fallen from grace. At one point, my character did have respect and I think respect is a big thing in this film. We read a lot of stuff that Tennessee Williams had written. He’s really big in terms of respect. I think this character has fallen. The best note we said about my character was he probably remembers a time when he was at these parties, when people were shaking his father’s hand. He probably remembers wearing nice clothing and eating good meals. This has got to leave a bitter taste in your mouth. Now he’s kind of humiliated and he’s escorting this girl around and it’s very well-known what his use is but she ends up falling for him. Tennessee Williams also has this thing with love where it’s never really explained. Is it passion? Is it lust? Is it obsession? There are all these levels of purity when it comes to love. Some are pure, some are impure and her love for me is never really defined as something that is clean or healthy and it doesn’t really even end on a hopeful note. It’s wonderful and it really respects the audience’s intelligence as I think most Tennessee Williams pieces do.
MoviesOnline: I assume your character has contempt for her?
Chris: Yeah, exactly, but I need her because my father’s a mess. My mother is in trouble and she can obviously create a better life for the people that I love.
MoviesOnline: Who is directing that?
Chris: It’s a woman named Jodie Markell. She’s an actress too which was such a treat because it’s comforting getting notes from someone who knows the actor’s plight. She’s phenomenally talented and she loves Tennessee Williams so I can’t think of anyone better to direct it.

Here's a trailer (seems more like footage put together to show distributors).

Bryce is unrecognizable!
The movie looks good, though. I'll definitely go see it.
