re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

so i was reading someone's theory that the smoke monster is richard... or rather in human form it's richard because we know that it has taken human form before... richard never seems to age and plus he does appear out of nowhere... interesting theory...

re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

I love Kate-centric episodes and this was no different, it was so good. I loved the way it developed, there really was a lot of character development.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

The problem with that theory east, is that we've seen that the smoke monster can't get through the sonic fence, but Richard has gotten past it before (notable, after the incident with lostie's saving Amy and killing one of the hostiles.)

re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

Minor spoilers for next week.

Miles centric epi (clearly from the previews) with Miles flashbacks. Young Miles will be showing up, as will Naomi (our deceased friend from the freighter that parachuted onto the island).

re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

I am SO glad Penny's alive.

And I got so worried that they were going to kill off Ben this episode. Thank God they didn't! He's the most fascinating character on television.

re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

What a great episode. Brilliantly acted as usual and as heartless as Ben comes off, the black smoke monster vortex thing was pretty emotional.

Oh and Alex? Whoa!

re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

And yes, still, resurrected Others. Ben was resurrected, as was Locke. Remember, Alpert said Ben wouldn't remember any of it.

Great episode with several answers. I still think little Charlie will somehow grow up to be adult Charlie.

Do we think Penny's mother is relevant at all? I think this was the first time she was mentioned...

Is Locke still a sap? I think so, though he REALLY changed quite a bit, didn't he?

What lies in the shadow of the statue? And what the hell does that mean?

re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

There has to be some connection with ancient Egypt. We've seen the statue, obviously, but the god Anubis (god of death/underworld/judging the dead) would, upon judging someone harshly, cast them to a monster that would eat their hearts. Hence, Smokey?

re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

Ben was resurrected, as was Locke.

Ben was saved from near-death, but as far as we've seen, he wasn't exactly resurrected. He wasn't dead.

I'm thinking maybe the "shadow of the island" peeps are Widmore's, but would that be too repetitive? He certainly has the money and resources to, after Ben's call about going back, find out Ben's travel plans and put some people on that plane.

What lies in the shadow of the statue? And what the hell does that mean?

I'm guessing it's a password. Maybe whoever this group is on the plane didn't really know who else was on their side, and they were given a password to identify each other.

Of course, there's probably a real answer to the question.

re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

I thought the smoke vortex was pretty lame, it just rehashed images that we had seen previously in the episode and reiterated the strong fact that even though Alex wasnt his daughter Ben loved her. And the effects were poorly digitized.

I am intrigued by the case of guns on the plane and "What lies in the shadow of the statue".

re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

I'm wondering if the Locke who is currently with Ben is really Locke or if he is the Smoke Monster. We saw that the Smoke Monster can take human form.....the appearance of Alex.... and "Locke" was no where around during the time Ben was having his experience with the Smoke Monster.

re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

so the picture in the cave was Anubis...here is a cool article about Anubis...loved the episode....Michael Emmerson deserves an emmy
Anubis
"Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life. Define yourself"

re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

We don't know what Alpert did with Ben in the temple. What if "Loss of innocence" involves Alpert actually needing to kill Ben in order to resurrect him?

I'm sticking with this theory until I'm proven wrong by the show -- so far it seems as valid as any other.

re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

I like that theory Jason...also Anubis is the patron of the Lost

re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

OK, I know this is REALLY far-fetched, but the Anubis link made me think it's more possible than I thought...

What if Penny's mother is the same as Jack's mother? First, read the above link about Anubis and confused parentage, and it CAN match up with this scenario: Jack's mother and Christian are married. She has an affair with Widmore, has Penny, but gives her up because she wants to be with Christian. Christian finds out about this, and that's how he gets involved with the island.

Of course, if my previous crazy theory of Des and Penny's child being adult Charlie is true, that puts kind of a crazy spin on the Charlie/Claire relationship -- something certainly in line with all the craziness of ancient mythology!

re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

Holy CRAP was that a good episode!!!

I can't even process it right now -- my jaw is still on the floor from that ending.

Wow.

I can't even begin to imagine how Lost can NOT get the Emmy for best drama this year.

Yep, that one ranks up there as one of the best. For as many questions answered, more were unleashed. I'll have to rewatch it.

re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

If Daniel is dead, I am going to CHOKE A BITCH.

I'm confused, actually, because there was this big hullabaloo with Daniel and Miles' actors being season regulars and Charlotte's not, so when Charlotte died it was kind've like, oh, that was the reason. But if Daniel's dead at this point there's no way he'd be counted as a season regular.
#299

re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

then get ready to choke a bitch! he's dead! haha...

actually... Charlotte (Rebecca Mader) was considered a regular cast member... reminds me of when Ana Lucia and Libby were killed off in season 2 because they were main cast members (but more shocking because they were only on the show for one season only)...

anyways... i just can't believe they killed Daniel... he was such a great character

btw... i loved how sawyer called him Twitchy... i laughed out loud at that!

re: 'Lost' Season 5 Excitement Thread

Charlotte was considered recurring, she wasn't a season regular.

as for the episode, I wasn't impressed. It was a lot of talking and not much else. What really happened in the episode? A gun fight between Kate/Jack/Daniel and Radzinsky/others and daniel got shot by his mum. the rest of the episode was people talking about going to the island, leaving the island and returning to the present. And A LOT of the dialogue wasn't that great. There were a few really good lines but everything else was sort of MEH.

onl 2 episodes left guys (3 hours the show)
when ducks grow thumbs then maybe my opinion will change.
