re: MTV Video Music Awards 2006

Hell yes, Jerby. Remember Rock the Vote? When it really seemed to work? Remember the forums during the Clinton/Gore campaign? I will never forget the things the people asked Clinton:
Boxers or briefs? briefs.
If you had it to do all over again, would you inhale? Sure, I tried to the first time.

heh

What the hell is with J.Lo wearing weird things on her head? And why on earth is Axl Rose "coming up?"

Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!

Poor Panic At The Disco, that pschyo stole their moment of glory.

re: MTV Video Music Awards 2006

Madonna, The Chili Peppers, and Christina Aguilera are nominated and Panic At The Disco wins? Wow.

re: MTV Video Music Awards 2006

I am so sad Christina didn't win one thing. She should have atleast gotten something.

Panic! At the Disc uhh. WORST VMAS EVER!

"I agree axl has never looked better."

If that's true, that's very sad. If I shaved my dog's ass and taught it to walk backwards, it would look better.

re: MTV Video Music Awards 2006

Guess I'll have to catch the re-runs since I missed the show. I'm anxious to see Shakira and Christina and the Killers performances, and P!nk's winning. I can't stand Justin Timberlake or Beyonce so I'm skipping them. I second the BOOO on Panic! At the Disco. They sound the same to me as all those other "we're the difference between emo and punk" bands who think they're so unique.
I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. I want to live every whichway, among all kinds---and know them---and understand them---and love them---THAT's what I want! - Philip Barry (Holiday)

re: MTV Video Music Awards 2006

I don't get it. Why are Madonna, Christina Augilera, Nelly Furtado, and Shaikera (sp?) nominated in EVERY freakin' category, yet they never win? Pussy Cat Dolls beat out all of those people? Pink beat them all out too, and then had a really awkward speech? What? I don't get it. And Kelly Clarkson beats them out? Whatever. I wish some the perforamnces were as good as I remembered them from back in the day. They use to be really big theaterical numbers, now they're more subdued. I hate that. It seems like they blew the budget on the set and all the weird seating. At least they returned to NYC and don't film it that really weird way like they did the past two years.

re: MTV Video Music Awards 2006

Just a question. Was I the only person who noticed the Rent set in the pre-show. I think they were talking about the technical awards and they had people dancing on the tables?Anybody?

On a side note the VMA's for the past 3 years have been horrible. I always end up wanting to watch the original VMA's my parents have taped. I want to actually see a person with talent up there. The only things I liked were Pink making fun of Paris and Christina. I also really like OK GO. Everything else I fast forwarded through. Is it me or my generation of MTV sucks?

"Does Beyonce think she is Janet and this is 1814?

It saddens me that so few of you will actually get that"

I got it. You are talking about how she copied Janet in Rhythm Nation.
Christina Aguilera was sick last week, she talked about how she got over her cold, before the show, so she wasn't sick while performing.
Jessica Simpson(who has a bruise on a vocal cord) looked adorable as usual, but a little too casual for a major award show.

re: MTV Video Music Awards 2006

I thought that Jessica's dress was extremely unflattering.
And Pink's acceptance speech really wasn't awkward. She was playing on the fact that the video that won was making fun of Paris Hilton (and a few others) who was on just a few minutes earlier. (And I thought it made it a bit funnier that Nicole Ritchie was the one presenting to her.) It's not your standard award show, so you can't tell if things get a laugh. The most applause I heard all night was for Al Gore, but I think it's just because it was quieter in the room at that time.

Ok, the article is good, but you talk about your age as if it was public knowledge and I've no idea how old you are.
I agree with him about the awards being boring, but Shakira sounded good live, she sounded great indeed and her choreography was very "Bombay Dreams", also I don't know why everyone seems to enjoy making fun of Jessica Simpson. Losers!

re: MTV Video Music Awards 2006

you could hear it in aguilera's voice that she was still getting over being sick. fortunately, she has great technique and was able to pull out a great performance.

lite, I have been asking the same question. the vmas used to be exciting. they used to be the best place to see artists showcase their performance. now they are full of bloated spectacles and/or talentless crap. madonna could blow people away with a simple staircase and two backup singer/dancers. or create a clean, focused performance in marie antoinette costumes. rock bands and hip hop artists showed off music that actually had musicality. less was more (and I felt that justin, beyonce, and christina proved that last nite vs the hype williams tribute that bombed.

and the shows weren't such tech ****ups. last nite's show was the worst for me because there was a tech ****up every other minute.

and jack black just failed as host by trying too hard--but not having any ideas.

I got over the ridiculousness of who gets the awards years ago.

I want my MTV.
