All I'm saying is I don't blame him for her actions. If my husband told me when we were "dating" that he didn't feel comfortable around my gay friends, he would not have become my husband.
It's one thing when someone who loves you discusses with you their concerns about a friend's perceived negative behaviors, questionable motives or destructive habits because they may be adversely affecting you. But to blindly accept what anyone else tells you is irresponsible.
Whether she threw anyone under the bus or not, it was her decision to do so.
I'm not judging anyone here. I don't "know" what transpired between her and her husband. I'm just talking about relationships generally and taking responsibility for your actions specifically.

Sometimes when people are "rejected," they refuse to believe it has anything to do with their actual "relationship" with the person who has decided to cut them out of their lives. That would mean examining their judgment, decisions and willingness to be vulnerable to another person. No one likes to have to do that!
Since we're always looking for "explanations" so we can "understand" and "absolve" ourselves, one neat excuse that completely removes "us" from any responsibility for the relationship's failure is to say, "It's all HIS fault! If HE didn't come along, everything would have been fine!!!"
But that's just a bunch of crap, and we all know it.

Point taken. I doubt we'll ever really know.
What I can't believe is the rumor they didn't have a pre-nup!

What are we even talking about at this point?
I read Christopher's book, and lived through the years with him when he was extremely close to M. The things that were done and said to him by Guy, who constantly referred to him as a poofter and such were pretty damn rude. He said he was uncomfortable around the pooters, and similar things.
I was shocked at the way Madonna behaved towards Chris from that time on.
Maybe we'll see another change of heart from her soon, who knows?

Ok the stories about Madonna cutting off contact with Gay friends because of guy is ridiculous. This is Madonna you are talking about, shes not going to do anything she does not want to do, have you not been paying attention to the last 25 years.
To whoever said her musical output has not been good since her Marriage to Guy..well im shocked.
Confessions was a brilliantly written and produced critically acclaimed award winning album which threw her old style together with and electronica twist with a cool pulsating 70s vibe.Maybe you are waiting for Madonna to record something 80s sounded again!, she moving with the times and her music is a representation of what is happening in music today. In fact Hard Candy is obviously aimed at the US market where the charts are saturated with RnB.
I hope with the divorce (which is sad news) that she stays here in the UK, she has been adopted by our country and even though our media can be awful, they seem to treat Madge with respect, treating her like the icon she is, the US just constantly seem to keep kicking her down.

#35re: Madonna getting divorced?
Posted: 10/16/08 at 9:51amI do know someone who is very close to Madonna's brother and claims that the falling out was all about his drug use and not about Guy.

Says the person who can't pay attention for two whole pages of a thread.
they seem to treat Madge with respect
Isn't it a matter of record that she hates being called Madge?
To spell it out (maybe I should misspell it out to make it easier to comprehend) - NO ONE IS SAYING MADONNA WAS FORCED TO DO ANYTHING. SHE COULD HAVE VERY WELL MADE THE CHOICE TO APPEASE HER SECOND HUSBAND, WHAT WITH IT BEING HER SECOND MARRIAGE AND ALL AND HER WANTING IT TO WORK AFTER SAYING SHE WOULD NEVER MARRY AGAIN, ETC.
What's fascinating to me is that Madonna's most ardent supporters seem to do her the disservice by behaving as though she is some stone-like creature devoid of human emotion, feelings, and foibles.

I haven't been in touch with Christopher in a long time, but if you read his book, it sheds light on the subject of Guy and gays. Who knows if it's all the truth, but I do know that the reason you didn't see him making the rounds of the tv shows promoting his book is because Madonna called every network and threatened to never appear on their shows if they had Christopher on.
He did appear on one early morning show but that was it. I never saw him as nervous, sad, and uncomfortable in all the years we were close.

Ah, I see. Well, although we're not close any more, my heart goes out to Christopher. He did spend many years as her "right arm." Whatever the split was due to, since there are rumors abound-the one about Guy, the one about drugs, and the one about the purchase of some paintings, he did end up on the losing end.
My god, I remember him as a very happy, self assured, bright and funny guy. Now he's so sad.

Posted: 10/16/08 at 11:55amWhile the book of course had some bitterness to it, the overall feeling I got from it was indeed sadness. When they were bickering back and forth via fax over the painting he bought for her home that she wouldn't pay for, he made a comment about how he had given his life up HER, which really just broke my heart. It's similar to what we were saying earlier about how no one can make YOU do anything and it's all about personal choice, but I still nontheless found it very very sad all around.

It's really hard to honor The Ritchie Family's spokespeople's request for privacy at what surely must be a difficult and almost-tragic time, when Madonna is very publicly trashing Guy mere hours after making official what we had all been praying to King Kaballahballah was never going to happen: the dissolution of her fairy-free fairy tale marriage.
"Emotionally retarded..."
#42re: Madonna getting divorced?

I think it's a given that you choose to do what you do. Pretty obvious.
I don't blame Christopher one iota for choosing to first having Madonna as his patron, then choosing to work with and for her, for traveling the world, staying at the Ritz, getting to interior design her homes, direct videos, work on all the tours, I don't have to go on. I'd choose the same life.
Madonna's choices for Chris really hurt him. It isn't easy for him to simply walk away from the previous life she chose for him.
I personally have no problem removing myself from a situation in which someone's choices aren't ok with me, but I can't answer for anyone else.

'Madonna told him that she had tired of Britain and the British press who had crucified her over the adoption of David Banda.
That part is clearly untrue. Just ask songanddanceman5.

I see we're being less-than-successful at honoring the request of Madonna and Guy's spokespeople that we respect their privacy at this deeply private time of privacy.
My thoughts and prayers at this time are with the innocent children: Lola Leon, Rocco Ritchie and Little David Panda.
