Where would Christopher be without her ? What exactly is his talent ??? She gave him a job, supported him, made him famous and when she got tired of being exploited by him, she cut him lose ! And his reaction was writing a BOOK about his sister, cashing on her popularity once again !!! Yet, some people believe everything he says, when no one knows Madonna's side of the story ! The lengths that people go in order to trash her ...

There were so many times when they fought, that I forget the details but as far as their relationship goes, I believe she ended it.

He started his artistic career by painting. He did very large, religion-themed aacrylics on wood. He did pastels, and drawings. He actually had a gallery show in Paris at the studio of Gaultier. I didn't think he was a very good artist, although I did accept several pieces of his work.

He interior decorated all Madonna's homes while they were together. I liked some of his work, but generally I found it too dark and heavy.

He got some work directing videos through Madonna. Again, nothing remarkable.

He designed and managed restaurants in LA, which I haven't seen. The one he designed in NY on 14th St. burned down.

He was a designer in the furniture firm called Berkhart, or something like that.

He was called in to decorate a restaurant on one of those chef reality shows.

Janice Dickinson called him on the air to decorate the house she bought for her models.

I can't think of anything else right now.

Jane2, of course I was not referring to you ! You are the only one with personal knowledge and yet you have been very fair through the whole argument !
My point is that, whatever talent Christopher may have, he became famous ONLY because he is Madonna's sister ! He knowingly and ruthlessly exploited that and still does ! And when she got tired of being exploited by him and cut him off, instead of standing up and making it on his own, he reacted by writing a "spill the beans" book, USING again his own sister ! Why is she a bitch for not tolerating this, who would ??? I am sorry, but I have no respect at all for someone like Christopher !

The truth is that most people here don't know what really went on between Christopher and Madonna.

I think Christopher is very talented. He was the artistic director of Blonde Ambition and he directed her Girlie Show tour. Maybe, Madonna wanted him to use her as a launching pad then he could move on and do other things while using her add to his resume.

As I was reading the book, I just kept thinking that he was sounding more and more entitled about everything. If I were to believe what he wrote, Madonna does come off as cheap and self-absorbed, but at the same time, she also gave Christopher a lot of opportunities to make a name for himself with his artistic endeavors. Maybe she felt like he kept relying on her too much for jobs, etc. That is not to say he didn't try, because he did do a lot of other projects outside of Madonna that didn't work out for him too well. It's just that it seemed like he wanted to continue the life style he had while working with Madonna but her cutting him off made that impossible. Money does weird things to families.

BTW, wasn't there a rumor that Madonna helped Christopher write the book?

I'd like to add this-it wasn't an employer and employee situation. When your sister calls you in the middle of an emergency, and you drop everything and run to her, it's another brick in the wall of a tight solid sibling relationship. He was at her side during all her tours above and beyond the call of duty, bur for the moral support she needed from a family member.

It's silly for me to have to describe a close brother and sister relationship, but I'm doing it because it may help to explain Christopher's hurt at being cut out of her life.

Jane2, let me explain what I meant.
Whatever name Christopher made for himself he made only through his work for Madonna. Yes, Blond Ambition and Girlie show were wonderful, but I am sure other people had also input in it and of course everything had to be approved by her ! He got jobs as an Interior decorator, because he was MADONNA'S decorator and brother ! He got laid because he was Madonna's brother, he got invited to parties and met famous people because he was Madonna's brother ! And when he hit hard times, who provided him another meal ticket, by writing a book about ???? Right ! If he wanted to distance himself from her, he could do like all his other siblings and build a carrer for himself and stiil support her as a brother ! But no, he was happy with the high-life, which he could never get by himself, as his failure in everything he did without her protection, proves ! Hence, the exploitation !
Honestly, what MORE could she do for him ? She gave him MANY careers, money, fame, support and he managed to screw up and get involved in drugs ! At some point she had enough, isn't it natural ? How many sisters provide everything for their brothers until their forty-somethings, like she did ?
And yes, I read his whiny book and I still find it a waste of my time ! It only succeeded in making me love her more, despite his obvious try for the opposite ! I'd have kicked him out of my life way sooner than she did !
I am probably biased, since I admitedly ADORE this woman more than any other artist in the world, but that's my opinion, no one has to agree !

NO-it isn't. It's her brother. Here's where you're all wrong-it was NOT all WHAT SHE COULD DO FOR HIM. This was a give and take. He did more for her at times than she did for him. She needed him and called on him whenever she wanted and he ran. You see, HE GAVE TO HER AS WELL.

I like both Christopher and Madonna. But I was best friends with him for 11 years. We had many intimate conversations about how he felt being known only as Madonna's brother.

I think Jane makes a good point about them being siblings. While it's a sad fact that a lot of the time it doesn't happen this way, one would hope family trumps fame. She's no doubt the more successful (financially and celebrity-wise, at least) sibling, but he did pretty much devote the whole of his adult life to her.

I really don't think the book was all that exploitative. What was the big shocker - that she's not a very nice person a lot of the time. Is that REALLY that big of a surprise?
