Im thrilled she has gone back to her dance roots and stopped trying to impress America by doing more RnB

Wow! Is this new (yet another) greatest hits compilation called "Treading Water" or what? This song is such a rehash, it's like a Frankencreation from across the years.
This isn't going to be a summer anthem. However, the Passion Pit album "Manners" is full of them. Move on everybody. Go forward not backwards.

Namo you hate Madonna so your opinion does not really count
I dont think its the best song shes done but its the 1st one shes done in awhile where she has just let her hair down and had fun
The critics who have heard it are already saying that it breaks no new ground for her but its a great dance song which will be a summer anthem.
Remember this is just a track for a greatest hits album, ts called Celebration and its coming out in the summer, it does exactly what it says on the tin

I love Madonna but stopped buying full CD's by her after Ray of Light. (And I don't even own all of her earlier stuff). This new song does seem to be a bit of a rehash and I am sure I won't purchase it or the greatest hits CD. I have her 1st one.
In this case, I have to agree with Namo. I have never heard of Passion Pit so I just went to my ZUNE Marketplace and sampled them. This is good summer music! Always love it when I find a good new group! Thanks again Namo!

Posted: 7/31/09 at 2:15pmJane, go to their MySpace page. They have about 4 songs that you can listen to in their entirety. I can see myself becoming addicted to the song "Sleepyhead". "The Reeling" is cool also. A song not on their MySpace page that I sampled elsewhere called "Little Secrets" is also cool.

Actually for the UK and many many european countries our summer (when we actually get hot weather) is about to begin (august is normally when we get the hot nights)
This song is also aimed at those markets as well as places like Oz, Japan etc, anywhere which has a great dance music/pop music scene and has not given its charts over to sound a like RnB songs

Here we go again. You do realize, songanddance, that the most common excuse for Madonna's current wave of rehashed weak material is "it's just fun!" and "it's huge in Europe!" In fact, literally little VoiceAnth's almost web-mistress Olivia (a good friend) was going on and on about how HUGE "Hung Up" was in European clubs and how on the strength of that one piece of crap song Madonna had single-handedly made "music fun again."
Then when that contractual obligation piece of feces "Hard Candy" was released all the apologists kept going on about how it was "just fun" and good pop music. Except it wasn't. It was and is lugubrous, turgid and DOA. Just like this latest turdblossom of hers.
And sure, you can say my opinion doesn't count because I "hate her" but I would amend that to say I "hate her now." I didn't used to. I used to love her. But unlike the blind allegiance crew like you, I did not give up my right to retain my critical faculties when listening to her product. In fact, it's your opinion that lacks credibility because every time she releases something you maintain that THIS time it's good, and she's finally having fun. In other words, your opinion doesn't count because you love her.
It has ALL been useless since "Confessions on Dance Floor." You can go right on telling yourself otherwise, but you remind me of the people back in the mid-'70s trying to convince themselves that the Rolling Stones "Goats Head Soup" was really good if you keep listening to it and will yourself to like it.
You can't even use the "it's just disposable pop music" argument because she has gone so far past her freshness date it isn't even funny. There are young fresh artists doing new things in different ways under the pop music umbrella, and Madonna is so not that it's kind of funny. You apologists should let her go and move on. There's good stuff being created out there if you could bother to explore beyond familiar Live Nation brand names.

Or maybe it's because Americans are tired of her.

Namo you can say all you want about how she has been "no good since blah blah blah" but i think its obvious that millions dont agree with you. Why you think your the main voice of negativity against her is beyond me. At least the people who consistantly rally against her make good points based on fact rather than 1 sad voices personal opinion.
Few things...Hung up went top 10 America so its not like the song was not a hit there, the single is now one of her biggest selling singles of all time....including in the states.
Confessions album was one of her best reviewed albums to date, and even if you dont agree (or are just far to stupid to see) it WAS a throwback to 70s disco mixed with classic madge and the electronica scene that is huge in europe, it did its job perfectly and is now a fan fave.
I will admit that Hard Candy was not the best.....oddly enough that album was done to try and re crack the American charts, something that every other country did not understand since the American charts are now viewed as a joke by every other market
The America charts are no longer taken seriously around the rest of the world, the music scene in europe is far more exciting and everyone knows it, and im thrilled that madge has shaken of the sound a like RnB thing and gone back to dance, leave the bland RnB to the artists clogging up the US Charts.
Even as a huge Madonna fan i can say (as i did) Celebration is not the best song by her by far, but it's also a song thats attached to a greatest hits album, produced by a dance producer, realesed in the summer and called Celebration.....i think that kinda told you it was just gonna be a fun pop song...and it is.
And if you are someone who used to love this woman then you are very fickle, you are not just someone who has gone off her but your venom towards her boarderlines disturbing.
Whilst America may not buy her singles like they used to (yet they do the albums) the rest of the world is. Why do you think she did not bother adding on more Sticky and Sweet tour dates to the US?, She has obviously realized that its just not that important anymore.
Celebration will do great business in europe, Auistralia, Japan, well everywhere realy but it will probably die a death in America, after all im sure one of Mariah Carey's sound a like blurbs will be clogging up the charts.
