I was just flipping through the new issue of Town & Country and I came across an ad for a new Manolo Blahnik candle. Does it smell like foot? New shoes, perhaps?
Well, either way, that's just gross.
What if it smells LIKE Manolo Blahnik?
Does it smell like leather? Snakeskin? Alligator?
I would love it if my house constantly smelled like new shoes, although I'd like it even more if it smelled like new shoes because someone was constantly buying me new shoes. But SJP's feet? I think I'll pass on that.
Wouldn't it be easier to live in a shoestore then?
That would be heaven! And every shoe would be my size! There is, actaully, a store in my hometown that let's me go into their shoe room whenever I want. And I used to be on a first name basis with the guy at the Von Maur clearance shoe room. Good times.
Oh, Katy, we shoe whores need to stick together. Do you have any idea how difficult it is for me to walk down 8th Street every day? There's like 15 shoe stores right in a row that I pass on the way to work.
But if they make a Fluevog candle, I think I'll pass.
Talk about access... The Manolo store in NY is right near MoMA...
Psst... Calvin. Giradon on 8th and I think it's 18th. I'm sure you know of it...
Candles are the new perfume. Everyone's got one.
Kabbalah has a line, and despite myself, I do love how they smell.
Calvin: I do believe they're still having their sale, but all the good ones are gone...
Damn! I running over there during lunch, anyway.
Good luck, Calvin! Oh how I love me some shoes. And back to the subject at hand. Does anyone know what these candles smell like?
Hmmm...it doesn't say. There is a suspicious lack of information in the ad. Just a picture of the candles (unwrapped, in a Crown Royal-esque white bag, in a white box) and the fact that they're sold exclusively at Neimann Marcus and Bergdorf's. I want my new shoe smell candles, dagnabbit!!
Nope. It's their own! For a whopping $75!
Exclusively ours. What every fashionista has been waiting for?a decadent candle from legendary footwear designer Manolo Blahnik.
? Features top notes of fig, ivy, and gardenia.
? Soft, rich notes of violet, chocolate, heliotrope, vanilla, and musk.
I'd rather have the shoes...
Me, too, Addy. Although I wonder if they'll be burning them in the Manolo Store. Cookie dearest, where did you find this little tidbit?

Ah, Needless Markup. The source for every unnecessary, ultra-expensive thing you could ever think you want.
Speaking of Diptyque, their Figuier candle is the most heavenly thing i've ever smelled. Totally worth the money.
They did have one marked "Cuir" once and I thought it divine. But I couldn't (and still can't) justify the cost...
