Obviously, this is a day to focus on this momentous step forward. However, each of the four on the wrong side of history have written dissents. Too soon to dissect them, but it is extremely rare for there to be four dissents.

Madbrian, yes, that is why we have to be very careful as to who gets elected in 2016. We cannot have a possible 3 Conservative Judges appointed to the SCOTUS. This is not going away anytime soon. But for right now, let us dance!

It feels like only yesterday that I was posting round here that we'd never see full marriage equality in my lifetime. I've never been so glad to be proven wrong.
And in the general rush to celebrate, let's all remember to treat the opponents of marriage equality with the same courtesy and respect they'd be using towards us if the outcome had been different -- so feel free to point and laugh and go "eat that sh*t, bigots!!"

Obama is expected to speak on the decision any minute now. Many GOP candidates are opining against this decision...big mistake in the long run.

I got kinda burned out on the marriage movement in the last couple of years, but was heavily involved as an organizer in the lead up to and fall out from the passage of Prop 8. Nice to finally see this day. Well done, everyone!"
Roberts' dissent was extremely narrowly worded, which I assume is why the other 3 wrote they own. Oddly enough, even in his dissent he seems to acknowledge he's wrong, which makes me wonder why he didn't join the majority.
