I have a lot of feelings about the decision today...most that I can't put into words. And yes...there's a lot of work to do. But, as Miss Shug Avery says in the film THE COLOR PURPLE:

I keep thinking of the truly heroic bravery of the earliest activists and how happy and proud--and astonished--they would be to see what they wrought.
The POTUS' words were wonderful as well--sometimes Justice arrives with a Thunderbolt.
And to come in time for Pride? Joy joy joy.

Yay times a million. I'm Irish(American) and by chance was actually in Dublin last month when their referendum passed. We were out in the streets dancing and crying - this time I'm sitting alone at home, but the joy is the same. Maybe I'll head out now and strut around on my own just to get it out of my system...see ya!

It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions.
