So theres been a new person posting on this board...this person has admitted to not knowing much about theatre...and from the the looks of the threads shes started that is very clear.
Some people have been very rude to her...one person posted: "You should be kicked off this site for posting this."
You mean she didn't come out of the woumb knowing who William Finn and Stephen Sondheim are! Shame on her!
I for one am glad there are ppl who are new to theatre on this board. Theatre has become an increasingly closed off art...we need all the ppl we can get. Welcome to theatre and be aware not everyone is a jack***.
Mean People Suck!
I agree. It's lame how people like to bite newbies heads off because it makes them feel good. Get over it. Save your harsh words for a time when they are actually needed.
Mean people do suck. Correcting someone is okay, but don't be rude. If you're referring to elphaba something, well she was really very wrong to make racist comments.
I agree... there's no need for rudeness. We can ALL learn from one another.
That said, too many newbies join and immediately begin posting questions and polls that have been done to death, or make simple little mistakes (calling cast albums "soundtracks"), or creating new WICKED threads.
I would never suggest not allowing newbies to post, but perhaps their posts need to be moderated and if rejected explaining why and directing them to threads that already cover the questions they raise.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Well said, toodramatic. I actually had a friend problem on the boards too, I kept telling her how great these boards and the people were, and evil posts scared her away, so now I feel terrible. If someone posts something you don't like, leave it. Don't say anything nasty about them, just ignore them, and the thread. And new people deserve to be treated well, I mean, they like theater! Anyone who likes theater is a cool person!

I agree with frontrowcentre2. Too many people join the boards as soon as they discover them and immediately start posting thread topics that have been done to death. I lurked here for about 6 months before I joined and began posting, and I've only started about 3 threads TOTAL since then.
A few months ago, I suggested that new posters should have a month or so after they first join before they can start new threads. That way, they can learn to contribute to the rest of the board instead of jumping in head first and expecting to dictate the conversation.

Exactly, I think it's important for people to take some time to learn how things go around here. I lurked for over a month before I even registered to get an idea of the dynamic of the board.
It isn't quantity, it's quality that makes this an amazing community.
And the trolls that come on making stupid racist remarks or posting the same thought over and over with no purpose other than to disrupt a thread aren't here to be part of the community, they are here to cause problems.
Mean people suck, but stupid people suck too.

I second having new posters wait for a while before they start threads. But I also think there are some people on this board that are a little quick to jump down people's throats. AND those of us who have been on for a little bit know others personalities and know who is being really mean and who is joking around. Newbies would learn from that if they observed for a bit.

Oh, Voiceanth, not everyone's hopes and aspirations are and were the same as yours. Really there's no need to be so bitter.

Then why don't you find a website like "Pop Singers. Com" and start
posting there? Then we won't be subjected to this asinine grudge you carry.

"beat up gang"??? Honey, I'm as disliked here as much as you are.
Well...maybe not as much as you. That really would be a LOT.

Because in America dollpoops - I have the right to post most anywhere I want - we all do
Now let's say there was a Tennis website with a message board
since most tennis players are Cute and 20-25
your possible dislike of the sport would over ride your possible tepid feelings for the game!!
There are other reasons to visit!
Calling someone who won't refer to Streisand in anything less than a derogatory manner beacuse she "stole" a part that another performer had no chance in hell in ever gettiing - 76 years ago - - should'nt speak of grudges..

Still, that's a discussion which is appropriate for a site called "BroadwayWorld.Com". You keep bringing up all the Jessica Simpsons and Brittney Spears that you like, but there is no connection to this site's purpose.
I happen to enjoy watching tennis. I even dated a tennis player once.
If you don't like playing in the orchestra, why don't you go out and start one of your own?
