Meryl is indeed the greatest ACTOR alive IMHO.
And, it was astonishing seeing her and the other greatest actor alive, Julianne Moore, in THE HOURS together.
I "met" Ms. Streep recently. She was a doll! And not a diva in the least.

She inspires me to be the best I can be!!!!!! In The Hours, I thought she was better than Nicole Kidman!!!!!! Sophie's Choice was an amazing performance....I bought the DVD, but it's so hard to watch a lot. I love her in The Deer Hunter too!!!!!!! I have The Deer Hunter, Kramer vs. Kramer, The French Lieutenant's woman, Sophie's Choide, SilkWood, Out of Africa, A Cry in the Dark, The Bridges of Madisen County, One True Thing, Adaptation, and The Hours on DVD, so I'm a fan of hers!!!!!! I really want to get Music of the Heart on DVD and Postcards from the Edge on DVD too!!!!!!
BTW, did anyone see her in the 1977 film Julia(with Jane Fonda, Vanessa Redgrave and Jason Robarbs)....I heard that was her screen debut
And ofcourse, I would adore her as Mrs. Lovett....in fact I would be really jealous of the actor who played Tobias(because that's the part that I want and he would get to work closely with her!!!!!!).
I think she's the best....as far as returning to broadway, well I read that she gets stagefright really bad(imagine her getting nervous!!!!!!)and that she gotten use to doing movies where you can always do another take if you mess up, and she says that on stage you just have to keep on going.........we'll see!!!!!!

She is magnificent in POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE. Watching her and the remarkable Shirley Maclaine together is a delight...ALWAYS.
Oh God...and HEARTBURN! I love that movie because you can watch it and play 'Spot the Future Tony-Winner'.
An amazingly funny, intelligent and talented woman who has given me my new mantra. She has a line in ONE TRUE THING that goes kinda like: Why don't you just choose happiness? It's so much easier to be happy.

She is one of the best, if only for Sophie's Choice... If only for Heartburn... If only for Postcards from the Edge... If only for Silkwood... If only for Out of Africa... If only for Kramer vs Kramer... If only for The French Lieutenant's Woman...
Astonishing performances, all.
I saw her live several times at the Public Theatre. Her Alice is Liz Swados' Alice in Concert was extraordinary. Her Taming of the Shrew with Raul Julia was great fun. Her Cherry Orchard...

I agree with "Best living actress on the planet, period."
Hope she plays Mrs. Lovett in the film.

Streep has the BEST TECHNIQUE ever devised by an Actress! Her homework is sensational...her prep work divine....and every inch of it shows up on screen..
that's not a compliment!
Mangani had no technique - no prep work - no homework - Just HEART! Just INSTINCT! Just LOVE!
