Do we have a heavy-load crate to bring Jane in? What did they use for "Operation: Dumbo Drop"?
And my next feeding isn't for another 45 minutes! Start answering, Pennywise!
Take that finger out of your nose again, Tiff!
where is Miss P? she hasn't answered my last pm either!
Yay for Miss P.!!!
I'm sorry I'm late to the party; but in this part of the world, your day's just starting. :)
Jane, I'm typing with one hand but my other isn't in my...nose.
TMI, Tiff.
Silly horny Asians.
Don't get excited, BSo, her hand is in her mouth now.
Now is this any way for us to carry on on Miss P's thread? She'd be horrified!
Justme2: I have it on DVD, so it IS available!!! (My vhs tape was recorded off of PBS 100 years ago.)
"Don't get excited, BSo, her hand is in her mouth now. "
Well, I don't know what you THOUGHT I meant...but her hand in her mouth is pretty damn sexy!
Without being too graphic, I meant that after she had a hand in her nose.....
How 'bout my movie of your life question, Miss P?
I am back for a while! I'm still at my office. Everybody loves working here so much that the last person just left...and finally left me alone!
Elphie, you asked which character I most relate to in The Women. I have not seen that movie in a very long time, so I cannot say with certainty with whom I identify at this stage in my life. I KNOW it isn't the Norma Shearer character (Oh, Boo F****** Hoo. Your husband is a jerk. Leave him.) or the Joan Crawford character (because I despise Joan Crawford except for the camp value...and because she was the ho, and that's not me. Sorry papa!) Even though she was annoying, I would have to go with Roz Russell's character because I ADORE Roz, and she was really funny in that role.
Oh, and Elphaba, I so wish I could "smack" someone with my sceptre, but that wouldn't be nice, would it? (Since the sceptre is figurative, I could smack a lot of people figuratively.
Dg, thanks for the Sidney Bechet. I want to frame that.

Hi, Grizz!
Favorite Comfort Read:
When I really need something to give me warmth and security, I open my Teachings of Buddha--the Japanese translation. It has helped me through so much.
Favorite comfort music:
That's hard because listening to music often makes me cry. That's why I listen to Broadway shows a lot (for the most part, there's a good balance of joy and regret). I have recently been listening to Mame because my organization is doing a fundraising event on July 1 to see Mame at the Kennedy Center in DC with Christine Baranski. If He Walked into My Life makes me cry all the time now. It never did before...then I had a son.
I know I'm a wimp, everybody, I know.
Oh, and I have been listening to the Papermill Playhouse recording of Follies because Gov recommended it and I LOVE it.
Actually, all of the Broadway scores between the 50s and the 70s are "comfort" music to me because they bring me back to my childhood, which was the happiest, most secure time in my life. The greatest gift from my parents.
Namo, I love when James Brolin, in his PeeWee Herman suit and bowtie, looks at Morgan Fairchild and very Bond-like says, "I know you are, but...what am I?"
Huge PW fans in my house...especially the boxed DVD sets that are UNCENSORED!
Junglered, one day, you and I must surrey together.
DayDreamer,
I have heard so many great things about you! I can't wait to meet you.
If I were a pair of shoes, I would be leather boots. I wish I could wear boots all year long. When I was in high school on my first trip to France, after a long day out with my friends seeing and doing everything, I would rush back to our dorm room and go straight for the closet to make sure that my Frye Boots were still there. I knew that if they were, there was NO WAY anyone would have tried to take ANYTHING because, clearly, they were THE most valuable items in the room!
Ah, youth.
DD, if I could have dinner with anyone, it would be George Clooney. I would serve him shredded cardboard. (Let's see if ANY of you knows what I'm talking about.)
In response to your other question...I love all animals, but, in truth, I am a cat person. I have had my two cats, Lolita and Quilty, since before I even met my husband. They are sisters from the same litter who have been with me since they were 3 weeks old. My cats actually showed me that I could be a good mother.
JOE!!!! HI!!!!
If I were a sandwich, hmmm, I think I would be a bacon-less BLT with ruby red, ripe tomatoes on whole wheat toast, mayo...and salt. I don't usually use salt for anything, but for some reason, it needs to be on that sandwich. I guess I'm salty, sweet, crunchy and just slightly off-beat. But I'm not sure.
Is anyone reading this or should I just go away? Wow. Now I know what they mean when they say "It's lonely at the top."
I'm reading! I'm just waiting for you to get to MINE!
Miss Pennywise, congratulations! What a lovely choice! Your reference to the Japanese translation of the teaching of Buddah made me wonder if you enjoy Haiku? And if you do, do you have a favorite one? And do you have a favorite poet? (And if Haiku is not applicable, then all the questions again but any poetry.)
May I steal a small bit from your thread to tell Jane2 that stars do indeed come in colors - there are even red ones! I chose Vega not because of the movie but because of her prominence in the summer sky - and look up on a dark night and see her shimmer in blue-white rays, But Jane, I can find a different star.
Miss Pennywise, would you like a star, or do you have one already?
Hey Miss P, I just got back. Are you still catching up on questions or should I post some?
Moonie, good question about the diff between New York and Maryland.
First off, I will say that I feel really lucky to live somewhere that is SO liberal. (Ignore the Republican governor. That was an anomaly.)
I like the DC area because, unlike other "posers," DC is a REAL city, like New York.
The big difference is that you can't escape politics even if you try...plus people who make their livings in the political arena can be terribly boring. The biggest shock to me was throwing my first big party and having everyone leave on a Saturday night by 10. It was bizarre.
But now my friends are from realms other than politics (and the ones who still are IN politics are FUN!). There are many, many non-profits down here trying to effect positive change in the world...and some very creative people too. The theatre community is small and close-knit but not exclusive. I only hang around with people who have a good sense of humor, so I'm happy.
The other BIG difference is that instead of spotting Catherine DeNeuve at the next table, I get to spot Newt Gingrich.
Excuse me, Miss P.
Just the facts-No, I WANT VEGA!! Iove it!
Sorry, please go back to reading.
Thank goodness there's life out there. I thought I had bored everyone to DEATH.
