Beacs- I live just a few blocks from Lake Michigan and there's a wonderful beach down my street. When the weather's nice, I go there. I've always loved beaches. Something about the serenity of the beach itself next to the power of the waves coming in is really special to me.
1. Educate yourselves and then participate in the process.
2. We celebrate our differences.
3. We have gotten to where we are through great hardship. Only through more hardship will we get to where we need to be.
Bway! You know I love to eat! Threadjacking of a food nature is always welcome. And we will do all those things when I come visit. Especially the parts about cupcakes and hot chocolate.
We have gotten to where we are through great hardship. Only through more hardship will we get to where we need to be.
I LOVE that!
Thank you, DD.
And bway, I think I would go back to change a few of my class choices in college. It seems silly, but I changed my major a few times before I settled into my final one. I would have sued that time to focus more on the degree I ultimately got so that I would have time to take more "fun" classes.
Congrats Katy! I hope you are having a great day.
If you could spend the rest of your life on a deserted island with 3 BWWers who would they be and why?
Congrats katy!
I'll be back later with inappropriate questions.
Thank you, Kel!! I'm having quite a lot of fun answering questions. I keep refreshing the page like a madwoman hoping ther are new ones to answer. As for yours, I think I would have to pick bwaysinger, Addy and Emcee. From my interactions with those three wonderful people, I know there would be great conversation, plenty of laughs and enough brains to get us back to civilization.

Wow. Those are profound thoughts to share with new immigrants. Really well-expressed ideas that convey encouragement and hope.
Brava!

Congrats on your celebrityhood (if that's a word)
So are you having a fab day KG?
Ok, we’ll start off with some nice questions. There are minors running around, after all.
If you could be anyone you wanted to be today, who would you be, and what would you do?
What’s something that you’ve never done, but have always wanted to try?
Ok Katy, you can have your way with anyone on earth- no questions asked. Who would it be and why?
I'm thoroughly enjoying my celebrityhood. It's been a fantastic day, despite some goofy work stuff.
I would be Laura Bush and I would divorce George. I say it's time to Liberate Laura!!!
I would actually like to be in a musical. I've sung in front of an audience, but never quite like that. I wouldn't even care if I was just in the ensemble. It would still be a blast.
Kel- I'm not sure about your question. For once, I am without a crush. Although it could be fun to get my grubby little mitts on Jude Law. Or Alan Tudyk.

Not Mister Wilson, too???
Next Question: If you were asked to write an editorial for the Washington Post or the New York Times, what would be your topic?

I'm not a man stealer, beacs. He's all yours!
I think my editorial would be on the hypocrisy of that last State of te Union address. I got so fired up after watching that nonsense! I ended up writing a huge blog entry about it.
What kind of cookie is your favorite type of cookie, KG?
If you had to choose only one dessert to live with for the rest of your life, what would that be?
My favorites are only to be had in my hometown. They're called butter stars. They're kind of a spritz cookie. And you can only get them at Meek's Pastry Shop.
My one dessert is simple- tiramisu.

Katy --
If you could show an out-of-towner only one place in our lovely city of Chicago, what would it be and why?
I'm gonna be a cheater and say that I would show them the El. We'd start on the lovely Red Line by my house and head south. I would be sure to point out each neighborhood and what I know about it along with any landmarks (Woot! Wrigley!!). Then we'd transfer to the Brown at Belmont and I'd do the same down into the loop. There's an absolutely beautiful view of the skyline once you get between the Armitage and Sedgwick stops. Then we'd transfer back to the Red at the State/Lake stop so they can see Marshall Fields. We'd take the Red down only far enough for them to see Chinatown and the Sox' park.
But if that's really cheating, I guess I would have to say that I'd show them Lakeview from the Belmont El stop east to Halsted and then north to Addison. It's such an intersting mix of people down in that neighborhood! I love how all these very different people come together to form this amazing, eclectic community.
Sign me up!
(My cousin used to live in Chicago - in Lincoln Park, just across from the Zoo - I miss visiting the city as often as I used to!)
Congrats Katy - enjoy the day!
My house is always open to you, Addy! I'd be honored to have you.
We wouldn't want to wear our LBD's on the El, though. We'd have to take a taxi out on that particular excursion.

Yay!! Have a wonderful day, Katie. I always enjoyed you on the confessions thread. You had the best confessions of all of us.
Yay for Katy!
Here's another semi-super-power-political one: If you could change one thing about the world as it is right now, what would it be and why?
