BlueMoon asks:

What is the best and the worst thing about Atlanta?

Hmmm...I do love living in Atlanta. I think that is a very "livable" city. We have experienced much growth in the last 30 years and there have been consequences - heavy rush hour traffic on the highways, overdevelopment in some areas, and some corrupt politicians (our former Mayor Campbell). Also, summers can be toasty. However, Atlanta is a beautiful city - we have plenty of trees and our landscape is the rolling Piedmont. It is more affordable to live here than many other cities of comparable size and the economy is very strong. In the 60s, Atlanta was a major Southern city that integrated pretty peacefully. We offer major league sporting events, have good support of the arts and entertainment areas, good restaurants, and retail establishments. Our year round climate is relatively mild. We are not too far from either the mountains or the beach. For me, Atlanta is a good place to call home.

Cookie asks:

What is your ideal meal? What is your favourite comfort food dish?

Oh Cookie - I am a foodie! This is a difficult question.

My ideal meal would combine elements from some of my favorite restaurants. It might start with a Blue Crab Fritter with Avacado and Citrus from Atlanta restaurant Bacchanalia, followed by a Batter Fried Lobster Tail with Drawn Butter and Chinese Honey Mustard from Atlanta restaurant Pano and Paul's, fresh asparagus with browned butter and capers on the side and a dessert of Chocolate Souffle Cake with vanilla ice cream and raspberry sauce from Roy's.

My favorite comfort dish would be either slow cooked braised shortribs or my Mother's Meatloaf, garlic red bliss mashed potatoes, and sweet and sour red cabbage and a homemade lemon square or piece of caramel apple cake for dessert.

Cookie asks:

What are your top five theatre experiences?

Wow, let's see if I can limit this to five! I could list many, but here goes-

1. The first time I saw Les Miserables I was moved to tears - so it is very memorable.

2. Seeing Julie Andrews - who I admire so much - from the second row of the Marquis early in the run of Victor Victoria was an amazing experience for me.

3. Taking in the lushness of "The Light in The Piazza" from the second row and almost being onstage with Victoria Clark and company.

4. Being wowed by the brilliance of Cherry Jones in "Doubt".

5. Being overcome by emotion during the performance of "Take Me Out"

Cookie asks:

What are your top five restaurants in Atlanta?!

Right now, I'll list:

#1 - Bacchanalia - 4 Course Prix Fixe - Jmaes Beard award wiining restaurant. The owners - Anne Quatrano and Cliff Harrison are pioneers in the farm to table fresh food concept. A meal here is always a wonderful experience.

#2 - Bluepointe - My favorite of the 'Buckhead Life' group restuarants. Heavy on seafood with an Asian flair.

#3 - Watershed - In Decatur. This is 'Company's coming Southern food". This place is not fancy, but the food is delicious. Chef Scott Peacock cooks with organic ingredients whenever possible. Indigo Girl Emily Saliers is a co-owner. On Tuesday nights, the fried chicken is the special and it flies out of there!

#4 - Rathbun's - Creative meals from Kevin Rathbun in an exciting in town space.

#5 - Babette's - Country French restaurant in Poncey Highlands has the best mussels appetizer in town. Prices are reasonable.

Congrats, Junglered!

My "new usual" questions:
What is your favorite role you'd one day like to play (soon as you get cast on Broadway)?

Which is your favorite Broadway songwriter/songwriter team?

What do you do first when you wake up in the morning? ("getting up" doesn't count)

If you were given the power, which past Broadway production would you undo so it never could have happened?

Enjoy your weekend!

Thanks, StageManager and Dottie!

Dottie asks:

What was your first Broadway show? What was that experience like? What show would you liked to have seen, but didn't because you weren't born yet?

My first theatre experience was in Atlanta when my parents took me to see Peter Marshall play Harold Hill in "The Music Man". We went backstage to meet him.

Later on, we used to go see summer stock musicals at Jones Beach Amphiteatre when we would visit family in New York. In those days, Musicals were put on in the summer evenings at the outdoor amphitheatre. I recall seeing "Fiddler on the Roof", "Oklahoma", "Annie Get Your Gun" with Lucie Arnez, "Damn Yankees" with Joe Namath (yes, really), and Carousel, amongst others. Guy Lombardo would drive out in his speedboat before the shows and say "hello" to the audience. Afterward, we would learn to do ballroom dancing in the tent behind the stage to Lombardo's Orchestra. Can you imagine all these little kids (my cousins) waltzing and doing the foxtrot. Good memories!!

My first real show ON BROADWAY was Les Miserables - and it was very moving. Fantine, Eponine, Valjeans...they all got to me!

I think I would have loved to have seen Carol Channing in "Hello, Dolly", but it was before my time.

Cookie - You are most welcome in Atlanta!

Franklin-Shepard asks:

My "new usual" questions:
What is your favorite role you'd one day like to play (soon as you get cast on Broadway)?

Gosh, I am not an actor...but I am very much a fan of actors and a supporter of the theatre and the arts. In an alternate universe, I'll lead the congregation in a rousing version of "Run Freedom Run" from Urinetown as Bobby Strong! (Forgive me Hunter, for I have sinned).

Which is your favorite Broadway songwriter/songwriter team?

I'm placing my bet that we will hear many more beautiful scores from Adam Guettel. I do have to give my props. to his Grandfather Richard Rodgers and partner Oscar Hammerstein - for all their wonderful work during the "Golden Age" and paving the way for the other greats - Sondheim, Kander, Ebb, Coleman, Lerner, Loewe and the rest.

What do you do first when you wake up in the morning? ("getting up" doesn't count)

Pee!

If you were given the power, which past Broadway production would you undo so it never could have happened?

Lestat. It was so wrong on so many levels.

Hiya, DG!

I do love attending concerts and I am VERY fortunate to have seen so many wonderful artists in my life so far. My Mom was always singing around the house while my Sisters and I were growing up and we learned an appreciation for music early on. It is very hard limiting this to 5 memorable concerts, but here goes:

1) My parents took me to my first concert - Elvis Presley - a year before the King passed away - so that is memorable. Elvis wasn't really in great shape in 1976, but you should have seen all the flowers that his (female) fans showered the stage with.

2) My first real ROCK concert is memorable - it was with was the band Boston. Do you remember their debut 'album'. It was awesome! I went with several friends to celebrate a friend's birthday. I really think we were the only folks in the old Atlanta Omni Arena who weren't partaking of pungent herbs that evening.

3) Jimmy Buffett is an entertainer who I just love! He is almost a franchise now, but I've grown up with his fun, mellow island infused songs. I've seen him just about evety year that he has come to town since 1983. Hi Fi Buys (Lakewood Amphitheatre) is party central for JB every summer.

4) Chastain Park is the quintessential Atlanta concert venue. Outdoors, under the stars and magnolia trees with a picnic and wine - and a great artist - creates an evening that can't be beat. I always love the WOW factor of bringing a 'newbie' here for the first time. It is sort of like your Hollywood Bowl, but much smaller. I've seen some wonderful artists here like: Carole King, the Indigo Girls, Kenny Loggins, Dan Fogelberg, REM, Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Chris Isaak, Natalie Cole, Tom Jones, the B-52s, James Taylor, George Benson, Bernadette Peters, Steely Dan, Chicago, Earth - Wind and Fire, Pearl Bailey, Tony Bennett, Donny Osmond, John Mellancamp, Styx, Heart, Blondie, Joni Mitchell, INXS, Stevie Nicks, Culture Club, Howard Jones, Olivia Newton-John and I could go on and on...

I have also loved shows by Madonna - The Virgin Tour is pretty memorable for me, The Eagles, Crosby,Stills, Nash, and Young, Sade, Josh Groban, Trisha Yearwood, Garth Brooks, Pet Shop Boys, Fleetwood Mac, Taylor Dayne, Maroon Five, Bare Naked Ladies, John Mayer, Oasis, Sting, Annie Lennox, and others in other venues. Okay - time to stop going down memory lane - sorry.

5). Paul McCartney is a legend - and puts on amazing and high energy concerts! I'm fortunate to have seen him a few times.

Honorable Mention) Michael Buble is a favorite NEW artist. I love his shows.

DG - I have lived in Atlanta for most of my life, but I was actually born in New York City - so I am a NYC native. Surprise! My parents met while working on Wall Street, had me, moved to New Jersey, had my Sisters, and subsequently, my Father was transferred to Atlanta when I was 6 years old.

I really love travel and visiting new places and meeting new people, but I am always appreciative of "home" when I return. If not Atlanta....

North Carolina is a beautiful state - I probably could be happy there - in the Raleigh area or up in the mountains near Asheville or Highlands.

I love the Napa Valley area of California and love visiting friends who live there. They have pretty close proximity to the culture of San Francisco, so that could be a possibility.

Being in Hawaii makes me truly happy! If I could ever completely slow down and afford the real estate there..hmmm...

Hi Calvin - and Happy Birthday to you!

My most memorable birthday would be the one 2 years ago when a few of my good friends took me to Hawaii for my birthday. It was terrific - a highlight was getting to swim with dolphins - an amazing experience.

Thanks for your question about "The Women". I relate closest to Norma Shearer (Mary). She is the 'nice' one who gets the shaft from Stephen and some of her 'friends', but everything turns out okay for her in the end.
