My usual questions:
If you were a tree, what tree would you be and why?
If you could have anyone over for dinner, who would it be and what would you serve them?
If we went out with you and your best friend, what story would he/she tell us about you that you wouldn't have told us yourself?
And now my myspace rip-off questions:
What goal would you like to achieve this year?
Your weakness?
Your biggest fear?
First thought waking up?
Do you shower daily?
Have you been in love?
Do you get along with your parents?
Coffee or Tea?
Cats or Dogs?
Enjoy your weekend! I'll pop in again later...

"Congratulations! What was the best scam you ever pulled? Do you have any cash?"
Posted: 8/25/06 at 8:39pm
Hi DD! How's the great NorthWest today??
DayDreamer asks:
My usual questions:
If you were a tree, what tree would you be and why?
My favorite tree is the Japanese Maple. I planted one in my front yard after I moved into my house in 1997 and it has done very well. I love its rich coloring and character.
If you could have anyone over for dinner, who would it be and what would you serve them?
Hmmm...that's a tough one. I think I'll invite my favorite actress - Michelle Pfeiffer over for dinner. We will start with a nice glass of Veuve and perhaps mini crab cake. Dinner will consist of pecan crusted scallops, whipped sweet potatoes, and sugar snap peas paired with a nice Sancerre. Dessert will be a nice refreshing Mango sorbet...and a glass of Muscato d'Asti if she would like.
If we went out with you and your best friend, what story would he/she tell us about you that you wouldn't have told us yourself?
Probably that I threw up all over myself in a restaurant in New Orleans (after imbibing way too much at a bar) many, many moons ago. After getting me back to the hotel (somehow), I slept in the bathtub the rest of the night. There - ya' happy??!!!
And now my myspace rip-off questions:
What goal would you like to achieve this year?
My goal is always to achieve Happiness and Success by striving for a good balance of work, play, love, family, friends, travel, home time, alone time, exercise, spiritual growth, and education. I hope to be a positive influence on those around me and make a difference in lives that intersect with mine.
Your weakness?
Chocolate. I love it.
Your biggest fear?
Honestly, I TRY not to approach life with fear. I do believe in pre-destination (the Presbyterian in me) and that everything happens for a reason in the time that it is supposed to.
That said, I have a VERY dear friend who is HIV + who has been living a healthy life for quite some time. My sincere (and selfish?) prayer is for him to have many, many happy years ahead here on Earth.
Also, I wish that folks would just try harder to get along and co-exist better here on Earth. We just have one planet - let's try harder to keep from screwing it up. We should be better stewards for future generations.
First thought waking up?
10 more minutes of sleep, please!
Do you shower daily?
Yes, sometimes twice. I just took a shower as my Golden Retriever and I had a nice walk in the park - and I didn't want to be too fragrant tonight!
Have you been in love?
Yes.
Do you get along with your parents?
I get along with Mother very well. We talk several times a week. I got along just fine with my father, but he has passed away.
Coffee or Tea?
Tea. Generally iced with lemon - with no sweetener, please.
Cats or Dogs?
Dogs. I am the proud Father of a Cocker Spaniel and the aforementioned Golden Retriever. the dog who has graced my avatar forever is a Welsh Terrier who belongs to a friend.
Enjoy your weekend! I'll pop in again later...

Rath asks:
What was the best scam you ever pulled?
Well, one time at band camp...
No seriously....back in the 80s I tried to freeze the world and then that stupid Robert Scorpio comes along and ...
Do you have any cash?
How much do you need, sweetie? The check is in the mail. I swear. This is not a scam - I'm just saying.

When you come to Chicago - where do you stay and what to do see here?
Posted: 8/25/06 at 9:09pm
What was your sister doing in Atlanta today??
I've been to Chicago just three times - twice on business and once for pleasure - to sightsee. I've always stayed right downtown on - or close to Michigan Ave. Last time, I think I stayed at a centrally located Marriott, if I remember correctly. I hear that your House of Blues hotel is incredible. My old firm had an office on Wacker Dr. next to the river.
I love Chicago's great restaurants. I enjoyed taking the Architectural Boat Tour on the river, shopping on Michigan Ave., visiting a couple of your museums, seeing the Water Tower, and going up in the Hancock Building for the view. I loved your wonderful Shedd Aquarium. We have a fine new aquarium that opened last year in Atlanta. You should come visit!

1) Madonna's "Virgin" tour in the mid 80's. I took the Marta train (Atlanta's public transport) with two friends from college to the arena. The show started then with tons of wanabees dressed up with rags in their hair, fingerless lace gloves, and leggings in toxic colors. The show, heavy on songs from M's first two albums was so much fun. After getting back in my car, we decided we wanted nourishment from The Waffle House. After driving up the wrong side of the street to get there and almost becoming toast after narrowing avoiding an oncoming vehicle, we arrived at this delightful diner and devoured our tasty meal. Good times.
2). Frank Sinatra - I saw Frank with my parents in the mid 90s the week the Super Bowl came to our fair city. Although Frank was losing his voice a bit, and relied on his teleprompter for his lyrics without shame, he was stil Frank - king of the hill - top of the heap.
3). Barbra - We saw "The Concert" at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on the Millenial New Years Eve. Barbra was itsy bitsy from our expensive nosebleed seats, but she pulled out the classics and it was an EVENT. I remember loving that she sang my very favorite show tune - Being Alive - from Company.
Okay, that's all for tonight, yall. I'll be back tomorrow!

Hi DD! I hope that all is well with you today. I'm glad that the you like my answers. I'm working hard to be as descriptive as I can for our public BWW forum.
Hello DG! Well - don't I wish I knew you then! Do you still have your multi- colored flashlight thingy that we all waved during "The Main Event" ('Fight')? Mine still works! The next day after the concert - New Years Day - we decided to drive over to Hoover Dam and take the tour. (It was my first time to the Las Vegas area). Afterwards, on the way back to our rental car, I took a spill near the parking garage and broke my arm (hairline fracture). Fun! I had to protect my arm and my bottle of 'Barbra champagne' all the way back to Atlanta. This was no easy task as we had to fly WEST to Portland, OR. and then switch planes to come back East to Atlanta. Ahhh - Misty water colored memories!

Different type of question for today - what advice would you give a young couple just starting their lives together?
Posted: 8/26/06 at 12:01pm
Now, for a few more questions.
If you won a few million in the lottery, what would be the first few things you'd do?
Which do you prefer, Sunrise or Sunset and why?
What was your favorite t.v. show when you were growing up? Now?
What was your favorite song in grade school? High school?
What was your favorite childhood toy?
Your favorite holiday?

I just got back from lunch and a little shopping with friends who are in from out of town. I am heading out to see "Little Miss Sunshine" now and I will answer Girly's and DD's questions this evening. For now:
DG asks:
Different type of question for today - what advice would you give a young couple just starting their lives together?
Hmmm...I would congratulate the young couple and wish them the best for a wonderful life together. I would probably give them advice to be patient with each other and respect each other's point of view - because there WILL be times of disagreement down the road. I would tell them to work on getting to know each other better, spend quality time together, but not try to CHANGE the other person. If one is choosing to be with another for life, that individual should accept the other - blemishes included. I think that it is important to try to respect each other's families and friends and try to include them sometimes in activities. I think it would be nice for each partner to try to learn / enjoy interests shared by the other and if that is not feasible, at least support the partner in his / her interests. I think that honesty is an important quality in building a strong partnership and I would suggest that a young couple who want to 'make it for the long run' keep the lines of communication open. Many couples who are successful are indeed best friends. Try not to be jealous of others - sometimes it is hard - but the inability to control this emotion has brought many previously strong relationships crashing down. Next, set goals together. Verbalize and write down things that are important to each of you - and set a viable plan toward meeting those goals. Budget!! Spend hard earned money wisely. Make decisions together. Share! Try to save some money and invest some for the near future and your retirement. Life goes by fast!! Finally, love and support each other, unconditionally. Tell each other "I love you" every day. All the best to the happy couple! Have fun!
