If you were recuperating in a hospital, who would you want in the bed next to you, excluding relatives?
My best friend of fifteen years, who has been a rock throughout my life since we met. I can't imagine having anybody else with me.
What has given you the most pleasure in the last year?
Living in New York City, making many wonderful new friends and carving out a life for myself.
What's something that we would be surprised to learn about you?
I love to watch football. Go Eagles!
If your house were on fire, what material possessions would you grab on the way out?
My MacBook, simply because of my iTunes; all of my rare musical theatre and opera recordings; and my reading glasses, because I love them.
If we asked an important person in your life to describe you, what would he or she say? How accurate would it be?
They would probably say that I'm quiet but driven, and that when I'm passionate about something, I give it my all. I'd say that's pretty much true.
What’s something that you’ve never done, but have always wanted to try?
Skydive.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

What was your first show, and what drew you to theater as a passion?
My first show was CATS at the age of 5, which I absolutely hated. I didn't see another show for two years. At 7, I was taken to see two shows in one day: BEAUTY AND THE BEAST in the afternoon and PASSION in the evening. I loved them both, and from then on, I was hooked on live theatre. There is just nothing like the rush of seeing actors live right in front of you, and knowing that no matter how many performances they will give, no two will ever be exactly alike.

Hey, AC, perhaps you, taz, and I should go skydiving together. We three gave the same answer.
(Incidentally, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST was my very first Broadway show.)
My question goes hand in hand with Rath's: Is your interest in theater as a spectator, performer, creator?

What would be your perfect day?
I'd wake up at 8, and do the crossword over a cup of coffee. Then I'd go to a yoga class and spend a good part of the late morning/afternoon reading. I'd probably go to a movie and then out to dinner with friends, and finish the day off at a play or the opera. After that, post-show drinks. I'd cap it off with a clove cigarette and a leisurely walk back to my apartment.
Is your interest in theater as a spectator, performer, creator?
Spectator. I'm an opera singer, so my voice isn't right for musical theatre. (I used to do theatre when I was younger, but moved to opera several years ago.) I can't act to save my life. I wouldn't mind being a critic, though.

Cool. You'll have to record "Barcarolle" for me sometime.

Your own horn, Diva... or Jaily's.
The former worked for me.

What character from a play (musical or straight) do you most identify with? Why?
I've always been drawn to fascinating, misunderstood characters. Catherine from PROOF immediately comes to mind. I love characters that aren't always easy and that need to be worked on to really be appreciated.
Diva, I'll make you CotD...if you introduce me to Maria Guleghina.

What’s the last great gift that you gave someone? And, that you were given?
What was the worst job you ever had?
If you had to be someone else for one day, who would you be, and what would you do?
What do you do when you need cheering up?
Name a place that you’ve never been, but would like to visit.

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be enbered with your old nonsense. ~ Emerson

Anyhoo,

Poor Diva and Yankeefan. Nobody loves you. So sad.
All kidding aside, if there was an easy way to make a list of active posters that haven't been picked, I'd make it.

This thread is meant to be inclusive not exclusive. Shameless spends a lot of time keeping it up, and it allows us to get to know each other better.
I would like to suggest that if you have never been CotD you PM Shamey so she can make a list of people to choose from.
And if Shameless is unable to do it, I will volunteer to.
I sincerely hope no one's feelings are hurt, and if they are please understand it is not intentional.

Tazzy bear, I think we're all just playing around - Yankee knows I would never seriously call him a whiner. No worries (I don't think...).

That's actually a great idea. If people would feel weird about posting their name. You can PM me or have a friend do it for you.
