Things get messy in a scuffle with a drug dealer. Yeah what he did afterward wasn't exactly great, but... one of them was going to die at the hands of the other. Simple as that. And really to say if you believed in the Death Penalty THIS would be the case you'd want it for? I have a hard time finding sympathy for anyone involved here, murdered or the murderers. If the courts thinks he's done his time then... that's it. He seems to be clean. He seems to want to stay that way. If not, he'll end up back in prison. He is on parole, not just out walking the streets free.

I feel like you're looking at this as if it were a Tarantino plot line and not something that happened to a living human being.

So... we're trying to humanize the drug dealer. Like he was so much better. That Michael didn't beat him to the punch of his own murder.

Except FELONS can't vote, can't find work, are hounded the rest of their lives.
What does that have to do with whether he's free or not? Those are his own problems to face in the outside world.

This guy murdered and dismembered and disposed of body parts in a river and was filmed buy World of Wonder on his exit. Or should we look at it as his entrance?
And the guy he killed would have been right quick to do it to him given the chance. Like it or not, Michael Alig was more than just the murder. He'll succeed and move on from this, or he'll fall back into drugs. He falls back into drugs then he falls right back into jail and he won't be coming back out. There are far bigger issues in the legal system than Michael Alig getting parole.

This is a human being who was murdered.

Human beings don't need humanizing.

Isn't that a totally reasonable way for someone to die because they sold drugs to club kids in the 90s?

I don't see much point in demonizing Angel Melendez. He's the one who ended up dead in all of this. This wasn't the victimless you're trying to make it appear. Yes, there was a lot of shady dealing going on and none of these people deserved the fame they received. But, that doesn't mean they deserved to die because of it.

And, what about the family who suffered the loss? Can they not also be considered victims?

At the end of the day one man killed another in a very brutal and calculated way. No matter what sort of light you try to shine on Melendez that fact doesn't change.
