I need NO more evidence that Rush is a complete idiot. He stands as a litmus test for me (like Coulter) - those that actually think there's validity to him (or her) immediately get dismissed in my mind.

Rush Limbaugh should be ASHAMED of himself! I am so disgusted by this, I can't even tell you.

So what if he did go off his meds for the ad????? He wants to show what the disease ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE! Not everyone with Parkinson's can even afford all the gazillion pills the poor man has to take to control his sypmtoms, anyway.

And to accuse him of "acting" like his symptoms are worse than they are is just beyond the pale. (Rush's direct quote: He is an actor, after all.")

Michael J. Fox wrote in his book that he doesn't take his medication before public appearances regarding stem cell research. Of course, this is so people can see the terrible shaking and twitching caused by Parkinson's disease. It may have been in bad taste for Rush to mention it but it wasn't a lie.

There is a lot of ignorance about the effects of Parkinson's. Symptom vary widely, but shaking and twitching are not the most disabling of them. Muscular stiffness, loss of balance, speech problems and facial rigidity are also very common, as are loss of taste and smell, difficulty in concentrating and in some cases problems with eating and swallowing,

In any case the video shows Fox suffering from severe dyskinesias, which are uncontrolled movements caused by the side-effects of the dopamine agonists that he has been prescribed. There is no way he would not take his medication. When I miss a couple of days it is sheer hell for everyone around me!

Michael deserves our total support.

Is the stem cell research at the heart of this issue reproductive (SCNT) cloning of humans? If it is, there's a lot of ethical questions involved.

I couldn't care less about him mentioning that - I happen to think it's a smart move on Fox's part.

I DO have a problem with Rush (I'm out of prison because I play the game) Limbaugh having the audacity to suggest that because Fox is an actor that some of what we saw was an 'act'.

I saw the ad on the news, along with Rush's comments. My first reaction was "Oh no, don't be hatin' on Michael J. Fox now!" (yes, that was the thought that came into my mind). Honestly, it did get me really upset. It has been said that Michael will go off his meds to show how bad Parkinson's can be, but even then he's proving a point - the disease in general is just devastating. I loved it how Rush accused him of 'acting'. Oh yes, Rush, he's just PRETENDING to have Parkinson's. He's just pretending to be suffering.

Actually, I read yesterday a quote from a neurologist that Rush's comment were not only incredibly tacky, but they showed an extreme ignorance of the disease. Going off meds would not cause him to rock back and forth like you see in the commercial. Rather, someone off their meds with Parkinson's would stiffen up and find it difficult to move at all.

Rath saying I need to have my tongue cut out is a very hostile statement. Thankfully, we are in the US and not an islamofascist country, so I don't have to be concerned. I only repeated what I heard mentioned in Rush's defense. I said it was in bad taste. I do not think making fun of a person with any disease is acceptable.
