I didn't give a hoot about all the twerking VMA controversy, but Miley Cyrus is now officially on my sh*t-list. Mocking Sinead O'Connor's mental health issues on twitter is just...low. The little brat needs a slap.
After saying that Sinead's Nothing Compares 2 U video was the inspiration for her atrocious Wrecking Ball video, Miley has now turned on Sinead after the Irish singer posted an open letter on her website, urging Miley not to allow herself to be "prostituted".
I would link to the offending tweets, but don't know how. Grrr...
Edited
I'd have more sympathy for Sinead if she had sent the letter privately and directly to Miley instead of posting it to the rest of the world. What honest motivation could there be for doing it that way.
Here's the story on Huffington Post, though.

I question Miley's actual motivations and sincerity about what she is doing but regardless, she is trying too hard.
Agree about Miley calling Sinead as an Amanda Bynes, managed to insult two people whose conditions and recent history I would not shame.
I dread if any of this gets used on SNL.
I guess the way people talk about mental health in general leaves a little something to be desired. For example, Claire Danes recently described her Homeland character as being "on the crazy sauce". Sensitive.

team Sinead.
And i predict Miley will be ripping a picture of Sinead this weekend on SNL.
"Fight the real enemy'....
Yup, Jay. If she said that about portraying Temple Grandin people would be having a fit and her awards marathon that year likely would not have happened. But she plays bipolar on Homeland, which harder to write and the writers on Homeland have proved they can be challenged by plenty of logic so them not being good at writing bipolar disorder is not the most problematic thing on the show.

God, that would be such an easy joke but you won't see pop stars doing that anymore to somebody like that Pope, mainly because it was that costly for Sinead's career.

So true, strummer. The only time I've seen backlash that bad since then was the Dixie Chicks.
The crazy part about The Dixie Chicks thing is it was a comment made by a member in the middle of a performance to the crowd as opposed to fourth-wall camera breaking on national TV. They disagreed with the President, controversial at the time, but I don't think anybody remembers the context of why Sinead ripped the photo aside from 'crazy woman', even if she was actually referencing church abuse. Still, The Dixie Chicks backlash was insane and intense.

They are both nuttier than a Whitman Sampler.

It's amazing how both of those (Sinead and Dixie) are just immensely talented- but speaking their mind was not allowed and ruined their careers. sad sad I feel so bad for Miley. It's just a sad train wreck.
I don't feel bad for Miley. Seriously, does anyone? She's so desperately trying to be the it girl of the moment who everyone's talking about. Well, she did it. Keep prostituting, Hannah.
Team Sinead.
I'm always rooting for Miley because she's always been a vocal supporter of the gays. But her responses to Sinead made me wince too.
Although I agree...maybe Sinead should have sent it privately instead of publishing an open letter.
Maybe Sinead was trying to make a wider point? Or perhaps wanted to publicly distance herself after being linked to such trash?

Speaking of Miley... Photographer Terry Richardson just published pictures of a recent shoot he did with her.

I don't thinks she's trash. From the letter, I don't think Sinead does either. Or at least she didn't...who knows now.
I think she's a kid who's been exploited since a very young age.
I was referring to the Wrecking Ball video as trash, not Miley herself.
That middle picture above, though...I don't need to see that.
Miley seems to be in a, 'Let me troll everybody stage'. Bangerz actually has some good songs and it would have been interesting to see how those would have stood on its own besides the images of twerking, Terry Richardson, commenting on other pop culture phenomenons we'd never connect her to (and not really articulating anything beyond what reads like trolling), and the response to critics.
I gave her slack when she actually revealed the Urban Outfitters CEO had supported anti-gay causes (and also stealing artists work without authorization at their stores) and the hypocrisy there but I am not really into the ratchet phase of it all. I'll wait in a couple of years where she is in the next phase (probably sooner than a couple of years but you get the picture) that is not as intense as this and just listen to Lorde for teen-pop.
Miley's vulgar.
I find Terry Richardson more vulgar than Miley Cyrus.
she smart. she realizes she has very little talent. so she manipulates the easy manipulatable press and causes a commotion. by New Years this will already have been forgotten and the sex tape rumours will start and she will be "devastated"
familiar pattern, not exactly ground breaking
What is it with her and that tongue?
I know. Her tongue alone is vulgar.
And the conversation continues with an Amanda Palmer drive-by:
Por vous, Namo.
Here's a 1m45s clip of Sinead talking about the situation on a television show, for anyone interested.
