300
THE DEPARTED
KNOCKED UP

"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

Whatever that stupid movie with Queen Latifa and Steve Martin was. I found it offensive and racist.

300 -- the stupidest, most offensive movie of the decade, a parade of racism and militaristic crap.

INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM -- quite simply the stupidest film Spielberg has ever made, and that is really saying something, considering the idiocies of MINORITY REPORT and the ending of WAR OF THE WORLDS.

The final shot of THE DEPARTED -- just how dumb does Scorsese think I am, to have to spell it out so brazenly?

LIFE WITHOUT ZOE from NEW YORK STORIES -- a poisonous "poor little rich girl" fantasy about a little girl who makes Paris Hilton look like Mother Theresa. The low point of Francis Coppola's career.

X-Men: The Last Stand.

Offensively dreadful. I'm still angry at how godawful it was.

Add The Boys in the Band to this list.
I would never hang out with guys like the ones in that film.

It isn't the movies per se that offends me -- it's the public/criticial reaction to some movies that are totally lame, IMHO. i.e. THE SIXTH SENSE -- I saw that twist about 1/4 into it.

I loved Pan's Labrynth B12B.

As someone whose opinion I respect I'm curious what offended you?

Flippancy, I'm with you. Sixth Sense "twist" was way too apparent.
Also 1941, just lewd for the sake of being lewd.

"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen." Conan O'Brien

Agree on Crash.

Also, though I'm probably alone on this one, Requiem for a Dream. How ridiculous and over-the-top can one film be? Drugs are bad. I get it. I really, really do. It was so over-the-top that I felt that it almost had the opposite effect of glamorizing drug addiction.

Taz, I've gotten into it on other threads, and I don't feel like arguing or waging a debate yet again. But since you asked, in a nutshell...

The gratuitous extreme torture/violence offended me. It wasn't remotely necessary to tell this story, to "enhance" character, plot, or to get the point across. It made me sick to my stomach and angry that this director felt he needed to go that far with it. It's f*cked up.

I'm not into f*cked-up violent movies. It's a modern genre that baffles me and honestly disturbs me. I find myself questioning everyone who IS into them today. I don't get it. I can't relate to the mindset at all. I'm not that desensitized, and I hope I never will be. It completely turns me off.

Say what you want as a response to this, but I won't be engaging in any back-and-forth on my own opinion. It is what it is. I've explained it before, and I just explained it again here.

And that movie pissed me off.

***SPOILER***

I also thought his ending was cowardly. The extreme violence depicted is "real," but the intriguing, well-crafted, brilliant fantasy story turns out to exist only in the girl's mind. How conventional. How expected. Nothing daring about that. It's safe. And there's also nothing daring or brilliant about bashing someone's head in, or sewing up a cheek on screen for three minutes either. You can see that "live" in many emergency room patients today. That's NOT entertainment, in my book.

WAR OF THE ROSES. Having lived through a divorce where my parents literally tried to kill each other, I didnt need to see it as a "black comedy".

i've never been really offended by a movie to the point where i wouldn't watch or picket it or something. movies have certainly pissed me off (such as THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, which completely hated its audience) but i think only the BRATZ movie will really really really really REALLY offend me. Those little toy-things are demons from hell.
