I love those Linda Blair teen movies - they were really good, as I recall. I wish they would release them on DVD.
There's something about Diana Scarwid - she's like the Olympia Dukakis of southern actresses - she can't lose her accent no matter what - but for some reason, it never bothers me with her. I'd watch her in anything, any time - and I have. Psycho III, anyone?
I also love the movie that gets shown about once a year with Rachel Ward and Bernadette Peters as business/life partners in Ireland. The cold, closed-off Rachel gets a surprise as her young nephew comes to live with them, and then another when she gets cancer. Throughout, Bernadette is the emotional codependent "auntie" and wife who holds their little family together.
There was a TV movie from the 80's with Lucille Ball called STONE PILLOWS where she played a homeless woman that I'd love to see again. I remembered seeing it when I was younger and went a few years ago to watch it at the Museum of TV & Radio and realized just how cheesy and unintentionally funny it was.
But I'd still love to have a copy of it.
Psycho III is a wonderful film!
Mostly for Jeff Fahey and the scene with the lamp.
Oh, I remember STONE PILLOW....Daphne Zuniga right? "I never thought this life would be SO HARRRD!"
Funny, given my avatar, and love for that film, I usually remember Linda Blair for that scene in Born Innocent...which was more shocking than her puking, etc. in "The E'cist" to me at the time.
I remember Stone Pillow...Lucy was so over the top.
Well, I hated The Exorcist and didn't see it until they made us watch it in Sociology Class as a senior in high school. Then they tried to make us watch it in English as well - clearly, the school system obtained a VHS tape (or beta, who remembers) and wanted to make the most of their windfall. I refused to watch it in English class, as the first viewing was so disturbing to me.
But I did love the Sarah T. and Born Innocent movies, which I believe I saw before I saw The Exorcist. Blair was wonderful in both of them.
Borstalboy, yep. We walked out of the museum saying that for days to each other. Too funny.
Also, Ball running around calling out "SONNY!!!" for her son just always struck me as hilarious.
What kind of f'd up school did you go to, Rath? Showing the E'cist to highschoolers? It's one of the few R ratings of the time that would likely still stand today.
Luckily, both STONE PILLOW and BORN INNOCENT are available on DVD.
How about these 70s TV movie classics:
The Girls of Huntington House
Mary Jane Harper Cried Last Night
Cage Without A Key
Little Women (Meredith Baxter version)
Alexander: The Other Side of Dawn
The Best Little Girl In The World

They never show Carole King's "Really Rosie". Unfortunately, the animation is not great and today's generation of kids would probably be bored off their rockers.
And speaking of 70s TV movie classics:
Halls of Anger (nothing like mad students to make a movie)
I think someone should start a 1970s channel that just shows programs from the 70s. Everything from Schoolhouse Rock and the ABC AfterSchool Special to Hee Haw and The Waltons to the miniseries Roots to Match Game PM to all the made for tv movies.
Someone mentioned Valley of the Dolls in another thread.
It's a camp classic that never gets its due on TV.
Fun Fact:Roger Ebert penned the script for the sequel.
Valley and Beyond the Valley were both off of tv for a very long time, but both have been on regularly in the last few years
Oops, sorry.
I actually don't watch much TV, so why I'm even posting on this thread is a mystery. Signing off..
I'm telling you, doodle, they got A videotape. ONE. Probably the only one they had ever had at that point! They had to do something with it!
I agree with the All 70s channel. Brilliant!

They used to have one...it was called Nick at Nite.
Actually, tv by the decade would be pretty cool.
I know they still wouldnt show Ken Berry dancing in his tennis shorts, tho.
Nick at Nite was not all 70s and didn't show movies.
Tool.

Do not be a hiney, Rath!
Do you remember Nick at Nite in the beginning? Sitcoms from the 70s...I never said they had movies...they also had Sonny and Cher!
But no Linda Blair movies!!!

The '70s channel would be awesome! MTM, Rhoda and Phyllis! Love, American Style! All in the Family, The Jeffersons and Good Times. Guilty-pleasure Fantasy Island marathons.
I am a V-A-M-P, vayump!
Good Times is on some channel now - I don't even know what the channel is, but I find it flipping around at night sometimes. I watched it this week! Love that show.
I think recreating the CBS Saturday night lineup would be a great start to our 70's channel...MTM, Bob Newhart, Carol...
(a Friend got the 1st and 2nd seasons of Emergency! on dvd...what a riot of a show! Weve been watching and Julie London as Dixie is the BEST, campiest thing I've seen in awhile.)
Or they could have the punk rock episodes of CHiPS and QUINCY back to back.
