Oh, I agree about Dancer in the Dark. The most depressing work of fiction I've ever seen. I can't imagine anyone wanting to see that again. It's nothing but "life sucks and then you die".
And I couldn't watch Trainspotting or Glengarry Glen Ross again either, mostly because I hated them, not because I found them upsetting. Yuck.

Posted: 11/21/06 at 4:15pmI can't think of any. I can think of about a thousand that I can't watch again, because they stink, though.

A couple of years ago my friends and I were going to do a double feature day at the movie theatre- go watch MILLION DOLLAR BABY, and then watch HOTEL RWANDA, cause we figured we'd go watch the cool fun boxing movie, and then settle in for the sad depressing movie.
Yes, this was back in MILLION DOLLAR BABY's first weekend of release, before any of us knew anything about what it was about.
So needless to say, we did not go and watch HOTEL RWANDA after watching MILLION DOLLAR BABY that day, and to this day I have not seen HOTEL RWANDA. Or re-watched MILLION DOLLAR BABY either.

Suddenly, Last Summer- I just find it disturbing especially because because the performances are so chilling.
The Lion King- I saw it as a kid and it just really upset me.

Posted: 11/21/06 at 5:01pmTwo movies I cannot bring myself to see are United 93 and World Trade Center. I've seen the trailers for both, and each time I see these I get tears and choked up. I don't know if I'll ever be able to watch these movies.

I found it very difficult to watch United 93.
Not so much because they're upsetting but ever since Mel Gibson's anti-semitic remarks, I can't even watch Chicken Run.

"* Dumbo and (I'm so embarassed to admit this) Muppets Take Manhattan destroyed me as a kid. Any movie that deals with abandonment or goodbyes always kills me. I haven't watched either in about 16 years. "
Me too. I only watched the begenning and have never watched the whole thing through.

check out Barton Fink. One of the most heartbreaking performances ever.
Great movie.
FINDING NEVERLAND.
As someone who's lost a mother, the final 20 or so minutes are just a blurry mess.
I had to turn it off when it got to that part. I couldn't watch it.

Brokeback Mountain.
Farenheit 9/11.
Haven't seen either since seeing them in the theatre...both are wrenching.

Posted: 11/21/06 at 8:36pmI can't watch Pearl Harbor. After the attack when you see all the men dying in the water and you also see the ones that survived and they're crying; that makes me so sad. I can't watch it without crying.

Posted: 4/25/07 at 8:14pmIncidentally, I watched a video of "Saying Goodbye" from Muppets Take Manhattan (the song that always destroys me) to see if I could get through it. I was a complete disaster after 30 seconds.

Dumbo- Where Mrs.Jumbo is rocking him and singing to him through the cage. HORRIBLE.
Bambi is upsetting when the mom is shot, but I also get upset during Lilo and Stitch 2. I really wouldn't care, but I love Stitch and I was balling. My friends make fun of me, but when he says "I have to go away so I won't hurt you" and then he dies and Lilo's been a bitch to him it's just too much.
If you haven't seen it, don't, it's a horrible peace of crap.
