Ah, it's been so peaceful around these parts without SeanMartin.
So who actually ended up canceling?
My wife wanted to cancel, but I just use streaming way too much to justify canceling it now. If we get to a point that the new tv season just fills our DVR so much we don't have time for streaming, THEN we will cancel.
Meanwhile, onto our run through Star Trek: The Next Generation...

I ended up canceling the DVD portion and going to streaming only. With the increase in price, and since I'm going back on tour, I don't think I would really get my money's worth out of the DVDs at this point. I'll only be getting mail forwarded once a week, and still have unlimited data on my iPhone, so streaming will definitely be made use of, especially during long travel days in the van.
Yep, I cancelled the Blu-Ray portion of my account and just kept the streaming.
I actually ended up doing nothing. The streaming content isn't wide enough to justify giving up disks. And the fact that I'm the only one in the house with a Netflix ready TV it doesn't make sense to switch to streaming only. When I look at my queue I have to go down to #16 to find a movie that's also available for instant streaming. And this Starz BS is just going to make their instant library smaller.

I canceled the streaming and kept the 2 disk at a time option. Carefully monitored my use since the announcement and this was the way to go for me. Thanks Netflix - this is actually going to SAVE me money each month because it is lower then what I was paying! HA

We kept streaming which is all we've had for about a year now anyway. I love it! Combo that with the new HBO & Cinemax GO and I'm loving all my streaming services.
I left Netflix for Amazon Prime. Sure their streaming selection is not much better but at least I get free 2 day shipping on just about anything I buy on Amazon. Streaming + free 2 day shipping for about $6.99 a month. (Disadvantage- you have to pay the year's service up front.)
I set up a Roku for my mom yesterday and so far she's liking it. Both her TV and her DVD player are fairly new so there was no use upgrading to a Blu-Ray or WiFi TV. I do recommend it for anyone who doesn't stream now but wants to start. It's a very small box and I had it up and running in about ten minutes.
I cancelled my disc subscription (which I've had since 2005!) and kept the streaming. While its selection isnt the best I mainly use it for TV shows and they have enough there that I have watched or plan on watching that it is worth it.
I'll miss the disc portion but depending on my schedule/TV series web watching, sometimes the disc will sit there for weeks. For that cost, I'll go to my library which actually has a pretty good selection.
"Netflix users are voting with their feet: the company said Thursday that it expects to lose 1 million customers this quarter after it raised prices for customers who wanted access to both DVDs and online content."

And I say within one year 70% of them will have signed up again.

That's right. Luscious has moved on. There are plenty of alternatives that are just as good, if not better. I recently sent an email to Netflix CEO, Reed Hastings, thanking him for opening my eyes.
You can laugh all you want, but only a moron would continue to stand in the same spot once they’ve been s#!t on; unless, of course, they’re too stupid to know it.
