12 shy - that depresses me. Christie has vowed to veto this and would rather leave it to the people to vote. Uh, you can't vote on rights, Chris. Look how well that worked out in California. Just take your head out of your large ass and sign it. You can always console yourself with a few Big Macs later.
Marriage Equality Passes NJ Assembly 42-33, 12 More Votes Needed for Veto Override
He will veto this...and i hope the backlash is deafening. His ego is as big as trump's, so he doesnt care about anyone, just his own ambitions. He's a blowhard and a bully, and this will just continue to shed light on that.
His veto will make him a conservative darling on the national stage.
Good ol' Governor Cheeseburger.

Awaiting Veto, Top NJ Marriage Advocate Sends Christie Eloquent Message
Christie's office number 609-292-6000
Of course I couldn't get past the receptionist (can you ever at a government office?). I explained my feelings to her without calling Christie a fat pig - I promise I was really nice about it. She said she would "make note" of my concerns and hung up. I have a feeling the governor won't hear a word about any phone calls received in support of the bill. So much for the people of NJ having a voice.
Steven Goldstein says that he believes Christie "doesn't have an anti-gay bone in his body." Really, Steven? I think he has more than a few. He's one anti-gay politician whom I believe truly holds the anti-gay beliefs he espouses.

Not to be cruel, but he doesn't really look as if he has many bones in his body at all.
I heard he was just big-boned. Or maybe it was "been boned". The dance music at Steamworks in Chicago was really loud at the time.

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Gov. Chris Christie has followed through on his promise to reject a bill allowing same-sex marriage in New Jersey by quickly vetoing the measure Friday and renewing his call for a ballot question to decide the issue.
The veto came a day after the state Assembly passed the bill. The state Senate had passed it on Monday. Christie, a Republican who opposes same-sex marriage, had vowed "very swift action" once the measure reached his desk.
Really frustrating and upsetting. Especially since I really love New Jersey.
And to think some people want this donut as our president!!
Very sad. I think the backlash won't be pretty
^^^yes
Asshole.
(Pardon my French, but it seemed to be le mot juste.)

"I am just as vigilant about civil rights as I am about portion control."
I am so waiting to see whether or not a cousin of mine in NJ (who worships the ground Christie walks on) posts anything on her Facebook page about this.
(who worships the ground Christie walks on)
So, she can hear him coming?
I am interested in how the media responds to Christie's veto. He was sort of a media darling for hitting on issues like hating on the teachers union, supporting budget cuts, and deciding to insert himself on trashing Jersey Shore that for networks like CNN, Fox, and MSNBC and a lot of the major networks equaled good TV. Will they continue to fawn over him as some common sense guy they have a beer with? I've not watched the news lately but did his absurd connection to a gay marriage referendum to the civil rights movement get properly trashed beyond the MSNBC primetime lineup?
A lot of the comments on twitter are epic.
Seth Mcfarlane - Perhaps if Chris Christie drops the weight, he'll be able to make the hike into the 21st century.
A lot of fat jokes. Yeah, they're mean-spirited and have nothing to do with the issues but people are angry and grabbing for the first thing they can. However, people should shy away from any comments about hurting/killing him. Those are just a bad idea - even if you don't mean it.
The anti-Christie tweets are definitely overpowering the pro-Christie tweets. But people are siding him. I saw one tweet from a kid who looked about 12 saying #gochristie which made me sad. Obviously he was raised by bigots.
There is an abundance of things about this man one can make fun of without taking on the easy joke about his weight. I think if that's the first thing you go for, it just shows you lack creativity. He's a pompous jerk and everything that's wrong with where the US is headed.
It might immature, but I'll say it.
If he died tomorrow, I'd smile. Nothing about his death would upset me in the least, and it would cause me great joy, to be honest.
But Maryland is on track to pass a same sex marriage bill. Yay

I would be lying if I said I hadn't thought the same thing numerous times. Christie is a cold-hearted, hate-filled human being who's only purpose on this earth seems to be spreading his messages of ignorance and intolerance. I love my home state very much, but Christie's governorship certainly makes me glad I no longer legally reside there.
I am very happy about how things are looking in Maryland, though. My boyfriend lives there, and we've found it to be a wonderful state with a strong progressive community.
I hate Christie as much as the next teacher, don't get me wrong.
But I want to ask honestly - do you feel this is an anti-gay move, or is it purely political to try to win over the right wing nuts for future political capital? After all, he's not REALLY pissing that many more off who are already pissed at him.
I'm just asking - I think this was a scumbag move that earns him his place in hell (as if he didn't have a luxury suite with his name on it all set up and waiting already), but the political angle is pretty clear...
I think it's a political miscalculation. His obvious aspiration is the White House in 2016, and by then this decision is likely to come back and haunt him in the general election, though it might help him in the GOP primary. But who knows, if the GOP nominates Santorum and he is crushed by Obama, could the GOP move away from the extreme?
