I have said this before, but what the hell, I'll repeat myself.
I tend to compare bww with the local pub I hang out at.
Lots of people, doing different and various things, holding different and various conversations. Some are playing pool, some darts, pin-ball, pac man, some drink wine, beer, cocktails. After 3 years of being a semi-regular there, I've found the people I get along with, play darts with, chat with. A couple have become good friends. And there are plenty of people I avoid, because they're @ssholes or simply because our personalities don't mesh.
Same here. I quickly identified with a few posters when I first joined, but as time has progressed, I'm surprised how many individuals, different types individuals, have been good acquaintances, some even very good friends. And on the same token, there are those I avoid because they fall into that '@sshole' category, or we simply don't mesh.
I take the good with the bad... sort through it, nurture the good, and let the bad go on elsewhere.

Generally it happens orgainically, like in the outside world, you are drawn to people you notice and like. Start to communicate more. Suddenly you are in fact friends.
Just don't push it. It will happen.

Back to the topic at hand, whenever I read posts or messages like this I am generally surprised, as more often than not the person making the post is someone I thought was part of the crowd they are chastising. I always thought DG (or his previous incarnation) was considered one of the Gods, or the in crowd, or whatever you want to call it.
Sometimes I think it's a matter of perspective. And sometimes I think people take this board way too seriously.

Posted: 3/6/06 at 1:50pmoh, pay no attention to kringas' attempt to assuage egos here. he was elected to serve as fairy step-god to the board in the january meeting of the broadwayworld board god association. he's been trying to play it off ever since since part of his job is to collect opinions via pm from the many posters here with whom the gods shall not deign to interact. do not be fooled. he's not on the side of the angels here.

I'm assuaging no one. Every one acts under their own moral code here and everyone is convinced they are right. I'm not better or worse than anyone. There are plenty of double standards and hypocrisy here.
I'm not really in agreement with DG on this whole thing, because it's clear from the multiple reasons he listed for this thread there's more than one thing going on with him. I will say that there does seem to be cases where ganging up on a poster is board-sanctioned. That's fine as well, but for people who aren't "in the know" it does send a mixed message.

"Are you someone who has decided that Corine is an idiot, and therefore worth mocking in any and every thread posted on this site?"
And alternatively, the first two Guidelines for posting according to BWW:
"Please post with courtesy (and common sense) - no use of profanity, obscenities, or name calling.
No personal attacks - we all have different opinions - disagree with the view, not with the person."
Didn't you know that those who mock Corine are exempt from being banned? That is why it is so popular. Either that, or it just a simple fact that some repeat offenders are held to different standards than the rest of us.
Thank you, DG. When I say those things, I get mocked and spit upon as if I've just crapped on somebody's birthday cake. It's nice to know I'm not alone in this, but sad to say that it will probably never change. What is considered cruelty to some, is considered entertainment to others, and to a select few, it is considered a part of Catholic beliefs (i.e. forgiveness and compassion).
