I'm fairly certain that there is still a thread about this on the main board
Whoa, how'd your post get above the first one?
I think they were merged.

It's just that pesky BWW gremlin again.

I just thought liverpool was so clairvoyant that he actually anticipated this thread being posted, so his response actually showed up before the thread itself.
One day he's straight, the next he is gay. Tomorrow he marries Liza.
Open up that closet door, LA! Come on Sean Hayes, Jesse Tyler Moore, or whatever your name is.
I say he's gay too.
How did that person get their post before mine?
I'm sure there's already a question about that in this thread.

Gee, another one 'comes out of the closet', again. So what else is new? Why bother making an announcement about it? Just live it (if that's what you want). But I don't want to hear about it.

Was this a big secret? He's been out as long as I've been kicking around the NYC for the past 6 years.

He's been out to everyone for years and years, but has chosen to not appear at filmed events with his boyfriend(s). Hopefully, that'll change now.
Great use of the implied plural, touchme.

I'm I the only person who's known this forever? This is not his coming-out to Broadway. He's been out to Broadway for like 10 years.
Because until you put it on record as he and Knight and Bass have done as well as Rosie and Ellen, many people believe you are straight. Denial/ignorance is huge in this country. Yes, we can all laugh and giggle and say, "Duh!!!!", but not everyone thinks that way or has gaydar or is in the know. Believe it or not, there are people who believed that everyone of those people I named were straight. And there are people who believe that others who have not come out officially are straight even though many of us already know (or think we know). And, it would be grand if people didn't have to come out--that they could just be, but that's not the reality of our world yet is it?
Coming out works in stages. For me, it was
--coming out to myself
--coming out to close friends
--coming out to family
--being out at work and school and in life
and one day if I were to ever be famous, despite all of you and the rest of my lil world knowing I'm gay, I'll have to officially come out "on the record" even though I haven't been in the closet for over a decade and will never be a closeted performer. That's just how it works. And I don't understand why this concept boggles so many people, especially gay people (and anyone with a secret) who know firsthand what coming out is like--the before and after.
Apparently he's quite the man-slut

Tag -- OOHHH man-slut?? Scandal!! :)
JRB -- I don't know if that reponse was directed at my comment, but the fact of the matter is, he's been out to Broadway people forever. It's not gaydar.
So, why does his coming out to the rest of the country and world confound you?

I don't see why there needs to be a second coming out.
First of all, I don't believe he was out to the audiences of Broadway, but let's just assume that generalization is accurate--that anyone associated with Broadway knew. That doesn't mean the rest of the country knew. Therefore, he needed to come out on a national level.
WHY is this hard to comprehend??
For me it's not hard to comprehend, but more on the level that I find the disconnect funny. I mean, he has to come out in LA, even though anyone who wanted to dig not too deep would have found out anyway. Hell, I live in Seattle and knew it from reading about it, mostly on the internet, but still.

Ok, so he was out on, from the sounds of it, both the West and East Coast. Coming out to Middle America doesn't concern me, so no, I don't see why there was a call for the second coming out.
