Nick Adams : Turtle Bay gay snub?

The place is in my neighborhood and you couldn't pay me to go in there.
But the "dress code" claim is ludicrous. Just look at the pictures on their website and you'll see all sorts of charming young men in white t-shirts.
And I love the response from Thomas, the manager:
Thomas said...
we don't ever allow white tees in the building. There are certain times when it gets hot inside and people take off their over shirts.
It reminds me of the Emcee's line from Cabaret that sometimes it gets SOOOOO hot they have to take all their clothes off.
These guys, however, look gayer than Nick Adams:

I LOVE that blue shirt!! I had the same one back in 1992.

I love this combo of responses on Nick's blog:
A "douchey straight bar" with a "homoerotic vibe."
Sounds like the perfect Zagat description!

Okay,
So, according to the blog, Nick Adams is a douche.
He didn't 'make a scene' out of it but he Twittered and blogged about it, instead of contacting the management.
He must be thankful for his 'ton' of fans to get enraged for him and contact the bar management for him. What is 'tons' of fans, anyway. Probably more like 6 or 7 people.
If I were the bouncer, I wouldn't have let him in, just for being douchey.

"Really? You don't see why it would be relevant?"
In this case, honestly, no. If he were someone trying to pass for straight (really obviously not the case), I guess I'd get it, but how would he gain by leaving that detail out in his blog in this circumstance? I don't understand the importance you attach to it. Will you explain it to me? PM is fine if you'd rather not discuss it on the board.

You are all a bunch of self-hating queens...
Not really, Nick really is a douchebag.

Posted: 7/31/09 at 2:24pmThe website for the bar outlaws PLAIN WHITE TEES...clearly that boy has some blue decals on his. So the bar is in the right, or maybe they just hate Nick Adams. Bar doorman can refuse entry if they dont like your attitude. Maybe Nick was throwing shade. We will never know.

Posted: 7/31/09 at 3:31pmGhostlight, because if they were holding hands, that would be a pretty clear indication that they were gay. It wasn't mentioned on the Twitter or blog screeds and is only mentioned in the Advocate article, which makes it appear like something that was added to the tale after the fact.

Posted: 7/31/09 at 3:54pmFair enough, and thank you, Phyllis. Now your objection makes sense. Maybe it didn't occur to him til later to think of adding this detail, but with all due respect, Nick is so over the top obviously gay that wouldn't occur to me that he'd need to add that detail to point it out.

Posted: 7/31/09 at 4:10pmIt just seems suspect to me that that little detail didn't appear until the advocate. And on his blog, when he's responding the Turtle Bay folks, he never brings it up, even when questioned how the bouncer knew he was gay.

Posted: 7/31/09 at 4:26pmAdding the 'fact' after he made his initial report only makes him look like he changed his story to make him sound as if he were more in 'the right'.

Posted: 8/1/09 at 12:36pmYou know, a lot of people are very private about their sex lives and Nick tried his best to leave out the deeply intimate detail of hand holding but our TMZ/celebrity sex life obsessed culture finally made him go public with it at the site of the most respected name in gay journalism.
