President Barack Obama’s approval rating has declined to an all-time low as public frustration with Washington and pessimism about the nation’s direction continue to grow, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

Given all that's going on, that's not really surprising.

But the ones who should be worried are those in Congress (at least those who, unlike the president, are hoping to continue to serve):

•Sixty-three percent of voters want to replace their own member of Congress, which is the highest percentage ever recorded on this question that dates back to 1992;

•Seventy-four percent believe Congress is contributing to problems in Washington rather than solving them;

He is not up for re-election and I do not feel these numbers mean anything. The ACA roll out is a DISASTER - but time will pass and the implemented changes and success will be ignored by the press.

The GOP is in disarray and it is only going to get worse. The 2016 primary should be fun, fun, fun!

I'm so excited for the 2016 elections. The Republitard party just can't stop themselves from being batshlt crazy and they're going to be even more insane this time than last time. It's going to be like watching a train wreck for a year and a half and I just can't wait.

Benghazi will have no traction for independents. The 7% that voted for Romney would never vote for Clinton anyway. If the demographics are as expected Florida may not even be a swing state.

We first need to NOT lose the Senate in 2014.

I don't see his approval rating as simply a Republic/Democratic debate. I'm a registered Democrat and I voted for Obama, but right now I am not too happy with the man. It's too easy to play the Republican vs. Democrat game like most of you do. I know many fellow Democrats who feel the same way right now, especially with the ACA fiasco. It's a downright embarrassment.

I agree, Carlos. But the point people are making in this thread is that his personal approval ratings can't have much of an effect on anything, as this is the end of his term in office.

But I don't think that just means you completely disregard an individual's personal feelings of the man. He's still our President and I think approval ratings, when accurate and unbiased, are an important barometer. Regardless of the time, party, or person.

If you're talking to me, I'm not suggesting disregarding anything. I'm just saying why I think the thread went the way it did, rather than turning into a list of grievances against Obama.

But it can certainly still be that; there's much to have negative feelings about.

Liza, I do agree in that regard. I think it is outrageous that the ACA roll out has been such a disaster! His ratings reflect some of that. But much of his low ratings are reflected by a deep and irrational hatred of Obama the man and not the President.

@ Reg: Yes, I understand that this is his last term, but approval ratings aside I am just really disappointed at the way he has handled some issues as of late, this is not the Obama I cast my vote for. The NSA debacle was disturbing enough, but this whole ACA fiasco has left him with egg on his face. He has a lot of cleaning up to do.

He should get and he does deserve our respect every president should. He seems to be a good man in the cesspool of DC politics.

But The Shutdown, Obamacare, Benghazi Coverup, NSA, phonetapping on Allies, things all add up.

While not all his fault he is the face of DC and people are not happy with DC.

George W Bush would have KILLED to have those ratings for most of his second term. And congress?

This is a good time to consider the Republican strategy- try to count how many time the right trots out the "both sides do it!" or my favorite "Obama was SUPPOSED to BRING US Together!" lines. They want to rub their stench on the other side since they have nothing positive to offer about their own performance.
Congress- who are those 8% that approve?

you bring up a valid point TheaterFan. Im sure its been done to our enemies, but i couldnt say with our Allies. However i would say probably but it was always "dont ask dont tell" to borrow a term from President Bubba.

Make no mistake i think its smart, but remember, Candidate Obama ran on Transparency and open dialog with friend and foe alive.
