I thought the vocal coach was darn good. Well, his auditon sucked, but I'm sure he has a good voice. Had he performed Michael Buble, he would have been just fine. His style didn't mesh well with Aerosmith. But for Randy to say he's got a terrible voice (when it's clear that his technique and pitch were right on), just highlights what he really knows (or doesn't). "Hey, you've got a terrible voice, but you'd be great for musical theatre". Pardon me as I roll my eyes.
I thought the rocker kid (who later sang "Dancing Queen") was awful, but I actually felt bad for him because it seemed like he really wanted it. And the young choirboy (wasn't he the last one to go through?) was also dreadful. I'm getting really tired of all these guys straining their vocal chords, trying to sound like Timberlake.
That said, the Cowardly Lion girl was HILARIOUS. What the hell
was that?! And, I love how the story of AI's biggest fan changed from 10 years of vocal training to a degree in vocal performance. Do I believe either? Hell, no. You could show me the degree and I
still wouldn't believe it.
