Hey! Cut me some slack, I'm working night shift! Yes the boy cleans up real good but I suspect he prefers tshirts & jeans. Frankly I'm glad he has a gal- he does not strke me as the kinda guy who'd be happy alone ( 7 of 11). Sherie & e DO ha an incred chemistry/immediacy. UH Gotta go!
Just finished watching the DD, anyone else? Norbert's speech was very nice, I thought he was going to cry at one point. He opened by saying that he had a dirty little secret: He's not funny. He said that he was shy and I forgot the rest of that part, I'll go watch it again later. He thanked Michelle for teaching him about love and wheelchairs. And he said that his daughters are still mad at him for leaving Wicked. And he thanked the DRS creative team for making a great show. But nothing about the cast or even Sherie! And no performances. Besides him and Denis, it was quite a snooze.
"love and wheelchairs"--ok, that's kinda cute. Forgot about Michelle being in a wheelchair in "Wicked". Norbs handles that chair very well.
Wendy-Were you watching American Idol instead? I taped the DD and was sooo bored. The Tonys will be waaaaaay better!
"Love and wheelchairs" does sound cute. Michelle must be an expert by now, having been with Wicked forever. I have to admit, I was disappointed that Norb didn't specifically thank the DRS cast, but giving speeches can be so nervewracking. I do hope he thanks the cast if he wins the Tony, at least. :)
What did he say about Sherie when he introduced her?
A.
They cut the performances! No Norbert/Sherie-ness.
They cut Sherie's song? That is just crass & petty. That was def one of the highlights.
They cut all the performances! I was really looking forward to that, ya know.
Frankly w out the performances the whole episode is of very questionable value as entertainment. Esp as Sherie sang it more as a ballad, very diff from the production. *shakes fist in air w fustration*
Ugh, the whole thing was horribly boring. Did you see the Bee book writer? I was screaming at the tv-"WILLIAM FINN! Just thank William Finn and get off the stage!" All these people were trying to be funny and it didn't work.
At least I got to see Norbert talk seriously for a couple minutes. I think that's the first time I've ever seen him be himself. It was nice.
Broadway Betty-You guessed it--watched AI from start to finish. Felt bad for Bo, was pulling for him.
And...big blunder...I actually "get" NY1--it's channel 22 here. Argh! I could have been watching the DD's ..but from the sounds of it, they were sort of disappointing, except for our guy. I think they're on again tomorrow at 8pm.
What part of the telecast was he on? (1st hour, 2nd hour? last 15 minutes?) I will watch it on Sunday for sure, but want to catch primarily his speech. Not sure I will tape it now.
Hey everyone, I'm here! I've been so busy the last couple of days, I have had no time to post. Today is the first day of a five day weekend. So hopefully lots of posting will be done.
I have to thank all the Norb-ites for keeping the Norbie love alive. I didn't get to see the DD awards last night but it sounds like I really didn't miss so much. I can't believe they cut out the performances, what in the world were they thinking??
H.
Wendy-Norbs win was in the second hour, probably the last half hour but I can't be sure. His speech wasn't long or boring and he wasn't trying to be funny, it was very nice.
It wasn't all boring, Harvey was Harvey and Jan Maxwell was funny. But it was def. lacking w/out the performances. And the camera was on Hank Azaria the entire time, not that I don't like him but there are other people I wouldn't mind getting a peek at. Also, alot of people didn't show up so it just seemed like a big joke. So and so isn't here so I'll keep this for myself, haha.
Hedwig-Love your avatar--Did you see Timothy O. in "Go"? He was truly exceptional in that...I am not a Deadwood fan...westerns (unless Clint is in them) don't do much for me..
I would have loved to see/hear Victoria Clark since there is such a big hoopla about her.
wendy: I was pulling for Bo as well. I didn't catch the finale last night but I heard it was great.
Okay, back to Norbert...
wendy: I did see him in "Go" when it first came out. I can't believe it's been so long, I may have to rent it today. He was definitely a stand-out in a great cast!
I am pretty obsessed with Deadwood. It's surprising because I am not a fan of the western genre AT ALL, but this show is so brilliantly written and executed. I can't remember the last time I cared about so many characters in one television show.
And I have to admit(I'm not above it!), T.O. is kind of a hottie.

Thanks wendy. I changed the pic to a link, and really...I'm only slightly embarrassed about that mistake...

Did anyone see John Lithgow on The View this AM? I don't think it was a repeat. Meredith Viera said "If you only see one Bway show this season it should be DRS". Or something to that effect.
Drat--he was on--why don't these things get announced ahead of time--it's not like we don't have access to the internet--LOL. If I EVER miss an appearance by Norbs on Letterman or whatever, I will seriously be upset.
Hed-Did you see it? What did he say?
I'm actually surprised that Norb hasn't been on Tony Danza, The View or Letterman yet. I watch David Letterman pretty often, so if he ever appears on that show, I'd know.
A.
Great Big Stuff will be the Tony number DRS will perform, according to the Greg Jbara website:

Ladies and gentlemen, start your Tivo(s), VCR(s) or whatever, because this number is going to bring down the house!
I just saw this over on the Main Board! Thanks for posting it here wendy. Yay for Norbs :)
