Yay! I'm so excited! :) Not to jinx it, but things are looking great for Norbs.
I wish Joanna and Sherie could perform at the Tonys well, but given how DRS songs list, it wasn't possible.

Yay!! Page 55--uh-huh, uh-huh (salute to Great Big Stuff!)
Hey y'all,
I found the link to the old Radio Playbill radio interview with Norbs and Sherie talking about L5Y. They did Show 16. You'll need Real Player to listen to it, though.
John, Sherie, and Norbert did a Radio Playbill interview in January, promoting DRS but I don't see it listed in the archives yet.

U know I have nothing but love & respect for Norb but- I'm not sure how great an interview he'd be for those kinda shows. He seems to be a bit introspective @ times. Most interviews w him seem to be in print & he comes across really well but- Sardonic Dave or Vapid Starr- I think he'd prob prefer lit matches under the fingernails. ( I could be wrong!)
Sabre, You're probably right, he's not the sellout type, (like I know him so well..) but he could regale Dave with a few Teri Hatcher stories from their "Cabaret" days... but, the View--ugh!--I shudder to think.
But he better get ready, cause the spotlight is ready to shine on him!!
HMPH! and a quick BUMP! back to page one!
Hey, Does anyone know if the DD's are being rebroadcast tonight on NY-1 (channel 22 in my area)? I know they are on at 12-2 on PBS, but was just wondering..
Alejanda--I listened to the Radio Playbill interview, which was most enjoyable! I loved how the interviewer called them talented and beautiful--royalty!
Just finished watching the Drama Desk Awards--Norbert, of course, was winning--and his speech, despite the fact he said he isn't naturally funny, was quite funny!
Victoria Clark made a very heartfelt speech as well-she must be a single parent, as she thanked her son but not a husband.
Hey wendy, I wasn't able to view the awards myself so it's nice to read about it here. Have you seen The Light in the Piazza by any chance?
I also just listened to the Radio Playbill interview. It was so great to hear Norbert and Sherie's thoughts on TL5Y's, but listening to them made me even more sorry I didn't get to see them in it.

I'm hoping to see Light in the Piazza in July--a friend saw it and loved it.
Here's an interview with John and Norbert from Playbill, in case you all didn't catch it yesterday.

Hello my friends! I hope it won't be much longer before I get the internet up and running on my computer. I hate making a trip to the library just to access BWW!
I just wanted to say how much my mom loved DRS! She can't stop talking about it! It's so adorable. I was afraid she wouldn't like the sexual connotations, but, she did!
Hi Chrys, I miss you! I'm so happy to hear your mom enjoyed the show.
I can't wait'til you get your internet going so I can see more of MC in that groovy shirt.

Hey guys! Just got back from the city and from seeing Piazza and La Cage. Hated LCaF but to say the least, I am comletely and utterly head-over-heels in love with Piazza. I hate to be a traitor to the Norbettes on this thread but Piazza is my favorite show this season and possibly of all time. The cd is FANTASMAGLORIOUS-buy it!
I still love Norbert and I'm so happy they chose to do GBS on the Tonys. OMG, it's a week away!!!
Chrys-Girl, you best get your computer hooked up cuz I miss you!
Hi Guys-The DD's were re-broadcast on PBS today at noon--definitely a different version, with performances (including Sherie singing a cabaret version of "Nothing is too Wonderful") and Norbs introducing Sherie as Sherie Renee Scott Mellencamp--a little joke about how when they first met she was only Sherie Scott.
Awwww! LOL. Wendy: Thanks for letting us know about Sherie's DD performance (and Norb's introduction). I am a sucker for anything about those two, far and away my favorite theatre performers. It sounds like Sherie sang Nothing is Too Wonderful to Be True as she does for the bonus track of the DRS OBCR.
broadway betty: I got the Piazza OBCR this weekend, courtesy of Amazon.com. I can't stop listening to it. The music is gorgeous! Matt, Kelli and Victoria are amazing.
Since the shows are sooo different, there can be room in your heart for both high comedy (DRS) and more "serious" drama (Piazza).

Norbert...
Norbert...
NORBERT...
NORBERT!!!!
He looks huggable.
New "cleanup" lyrics for "Great Big Stuff". Huh? Think Norb might "slip" a bit in anyway? What the time delay on the Tony's?
They could just bleep it like they did Stephanie D'Abruzzo last year when she says the f*bomb in "it sucks to be me". I'd rather hear "I want some really classy *beep*" than "I want some really classy stuff". Oh, we'll see. Yazbek won't let them ruin his song.
Has there been an article that says the lyrics are going to be cleaned up or are we speculating? Details, please!
It is definately speculation on our parts. ( see TOO Much Great Big Stuff thread) But I kinda think the hummers line will not pass standards & practices. Just always got the feeling from Norb he does not like to censor artistic elements. The man is TOO damn classy!
*bump*
Billy Crystal visited DRS this past weekend. There is a picture of Billy, his wife, John and Norbert on Playbill.com.

Billy Crystal sees DRS
And..broadway.com has an article that says each nominated new musical will perfom 2 songs from their respective shows--a short one at the beginning and a full one later in the show. DRS is doing DR Number and of course, Great Big Stuff! Cannot wait!
