Hillary just turned the tide for a lot of people who were truly miserable after Hillary stopped her campaign, and didn't know what to do come election day. But give it to Hillary to remind the Democrats what was truly important.
And Obama better thank his lucky stars for the votes Hillary just gave him, because quite frankly, I don't know if Obama could top this speech on Thursday

Fantastic lady...brilliant speech. Knew what she had to do and did it well. Hope I can hang around long enough to see her run and be elected president sometime in the future. She has the smarts for the job. Hillary! Hillary! Hillary!

He's a great speaker. I'm sure he'll deliver.
That is then though, this moment is certainly all Hillary's, and it should be.
The Hillary delegate they interviewed on MSNBC was great, she was soft spoken and bad for tv and Andrea Mitchell tried to goad her into negativity but she wouldn't do it. She was just moved and moving forward.
That was one of the best political speeches I have ever heard in my entire life. I am one of those bitter Hillary supporters who does not want to vote for Obama (but I don't want to vote for McCain either). After hearing her speech tonight, my voting for Obama is not 100% out of the question anymore. She really hit home on a bunch of major issues.
I kind of was very into the election because of her towards the beginning, but now we all need to think about heathcare for all Americans, etc etc...we need to think about what's best for America, not voting out of spite.
I love Hillary so much and am crushed that she did not win the nomination, but I do think that what she did tonight was extremely difficult for her to do, and she delivered 100%. A brilliant speech. A brilliant woman. A brilliant leader.
PS: It was so nice to see Bill get all choked up...it was great to see the human side of him. I love them both.

It'll be interesting to see how Bill's and Biden's speeches tomorrow and Obama's speech compare to Hillary's brilliant speech.

WAT, Remember what Hillary said. This election is not about her. It's about the bald woman with cancer who asked Hillary to fight for her. It's about the needs of ALL people, not just about our feelings for a particular candidate. Ask yourself what kind of world you want and then ask yourself if you believe that John McCain can help us achieve it. Vote! (But not McCain. NO WAY! NO HOW!)
Thanks for that link, romantico. I had tix for a show last night so couldn't see the speech. Sounds like I missed an amazing event. Can't wait to watch.

Blueroses, I'm glad someone else saw that delegate! I felt the spirit of Peter Griffin come over me as I wanted to shout, "Somebody throw a pie or something!"
Are you talking about the teary delegate who kept entreating, "Was that PRESIDENTIAL?! YOU GOTTA ADMIT THAT WAS PRESIDENTIAL!" Her blubbery inability to get past what seemed an adolescent crush did not help anyone's cause, certainly not Senator Clinton's. Why am I reminded of Tallulah Bankhead's famous 'gallery girls'? Who screamed and stomped and interrupted her performances in her youth? Clinton's pitch-perfect plea fell on some deaf ears, and watching them dig their heels in (several on a.m. tv) only supports the worst stereotypes about 'celebrity' candidates. Clinton's appeal was historically about anything BUT celebrity, but the PUMA response suggests a kind of blind heroine worship. Last night was perfect for the party, however, and a handful of reactions will not deter the bigger result.

That was the one, Auggie.
On a side note, local news talked about how they decided on which pants suit she would wear. They showed these big security guys onstage yesterday holding up several different colored pantsuits so it could be decided which color would look good on TV against the backdrop. It was priceless! The fact that the orange one was chosen was not lost on a lot of people here as it is the color for the Broncos.
Forget about McCain's Mom, is it true Hillary's mom is almost 90?
Yep. Only 7 months, 2 weeks and 4 days younger than McCain!
Today's NYT has a picture of the pantsuits being held up onstage so the right one could be chosen. I hate orange, but it did pop on the blue background.
Somebody should have done that for Michele Obama, who was lost in the background.
That speech was so exhilarating that I couldn't sleep till WAY too late. It was absolutely marvelous and for a while, it made me sad over what we could have had as a nominee. Now it's time to brush that off and go with what we have. I seriously considered sitting this one out, but now Obama will have my vote.

The GOP must be running scared. Maybe drumming up a faux terrrorist plot?

No, they're telling Maureen Dowd about all the hateful and vindictive Hillary supporters at the convention.
I was wathcing Hillary's speech with my 16yo son. I even saw him smiling a few times. Regardless of how you feel about Hillary- she is a phenomenal public speaker! She was really addressing the audience. You couldn't even tell if she was reading from prompters. Her speech was very commanding with the right touch of humor. I thought she looked great and Chelsea looked beautiful. My son and I did smirk a few times when they showed the close-ups of Bill- they were just funny in a "The Soup" kind of way! I thought the media was going to jump on the fact that she didn't say she was a great wife. She said a great mother, a great democrat, a great American. Oh well, it doesn't really matter. Hillary did a great job! Just sayin'
I keep reading "PUMA." What does that mean?
Sorry, I'm in tech week hell, and haven't kept up with events.
PUMA is the name chosen by a small but loud-mouthed group of people who voted for Hillary in the primaries who have vowed to vote for McCain.
She eschewed them.
And you can see how intelligent those lovely people are on a link in the "some fun snaps" thread.
