isinbayeva is not a bigot. neither are the majority of russians or saudi arabians. at least, not anymore than average americans. what you can show in all of these instances, from isinbayeva, to michelle shocked, to hailey banks, from russia, to persia, to the US, is how religion makes morally average people say and do wicked things that they would never otherwise contemplate.
take for example banks. i bet you she shopped with her gay friends, sat down with them and enjoyed meals, got manicures and pedicures with them, pays taxes, loves her family, etc., etc. she would never have dreamed of taking pictures of herself at chik-fil-a if she didn't think god was telling her to do it. the same as with isinbayeva. i am sure she has friends who are homosexual. she would never say the things she did unless she thought there was a divine warrant.
boycott the olympics, boycott coca-cola, boycott nbc, call them all racist and bigots, while the source remains uncriticized, unboycotted (has attendance at russian orthodox churches in the US dropped at all? i bet not. freedom of religion includes donating money to them so they can use it to make life for LGBT in russia miserable), expect this to keep repeating itself.

Well said BETHNOR It always makes me cringe when those who preach tollerance for thenselves and their issues are the most intolerant of all. Unfortunately that is very common here.

PJ, Thank you for sharing that. It might sound silly but I just got chills looking at those two pictures... They are openly defying an archaic law and clearly proud to do so. That takes COURAGE, CONVICTION, and DETERMINATION.

That's how Russians kiss in place of our "air kissing". You can even see 2 straight men kiss on the lips while greeting each other. So, our interpretation of that photo may be a lot of wishful thinking.

Once again, people who demand their rights demand what is theirs, they are not asking for tolerance for their issues. Not are they asking to bestowed something from above. I and nobody I know has ever demanded tolerance for "our issues." And once again, bethnor and everybody who use the work "tolerance" as code, when you demand your rights, which are yours (that's why they are called rights, no one is obligated to "tolerate" the bigots who work against them.

Russians and eastern european women do indeed kiss on the lips. I do it all the time but not with my american gfs. They are wierded out by that and i was actually told to not do that by one cuz she did t like girls that say. If you remember the last olympics, the girls would kiss on the lips before and after the matches. My bf at the time and his pervy friends woukd always get so excited watching thwt.
