Great episode. Robert Carlyle must be delighted when he gets scripts like this one.

Though, I'm a bit confused by the chronology of Rumple's transformation into the Dark One. If he knew Regina as a baby (we're led to believe that Cora is the miller's daughter) then he had transformed a generation earlier than I previously thought. That would make Baelfire @ a decade older than Regina. Maybe he's not bound by time and space.

It was good that Regina realized that she would be exactly like her mother if she kept Henry a prisoner and made him like herself. She did prove that she loved Henry when doing this. However, if she wanted to 100% redeem herself, she would have destroyed the book. I have a feeling that next week Cora is going to trick Emma the same way she tricked Snow White. Emma does not know who Cora is or what she is capable of doing.

It looks like Captain Hook sent Smee to kidnap Belle. What is it with Belle being captured lately? In the Disney movie, Belle was never a damsal-in-distress. In her first appearance on this show, she always said that there are not a lot of chances for women to become heroes and she wanted that. It's certainly not happening for her.

Another great episode. I really liked the reunion that Jefferson had with his daughter. It was also interesting that Snow White and James had a wedding before the one in the Pilot episode and that King George is in Storybrooke. Cora really is evil.

It was so funny to see Cora try and be "nice". There was something really thrilling though about when she transformed from Lancelot to Cora, the blue smoke just looked really good in the dark room.

Fellow thief? The boy who stole the giant's beans? Like the magic beans that Bae had? Who now want to make Emma "an honest woman" - as in married?

Love the show. Love the cast.

One thing, though...something about Ginnifer Goodwin bugs me. I get weird vibes from her on the show and in interviews, especially in group interviews when other people who are not Josh Dallas are around.

That was an interesting twist on how Captain Hook and Mr. Smee became who they are. Next week's episode looks interesting and scary.

^ I do agree. It was not one of the strongest episodes. However, I did like how Belle took charge of herself after she was rescued.

An entire episode without Snow or Emma - odd. While it didn't move the plot(s) forward, it was interesting background info (just not compelling). I did love the liberty they took with the concept of who/what the croccodile was.

I liked the episode, but was disappointed by a couple of things. First, no Regina, Emma or Snow - they were MISSED. Second, the way Hook lost his hand? After seeing Peter and the Starcatcher it was a bit of a let down. I know it's an eight o'clock family show, but I expected a little bit MORE than that.
Still, I love that they opened up a whole new land and brought in a new villain.

So is Dr Whale...Frankenstein? Not very fairy tale...

There was a message posted somewhere on the Once Upon A Time Fans site FB page that pointed out the creators never intended the show to be strictly about fairy tales. s Case in point is Hat Trick where we saw many different doors to other realms. If I remember correctly a recent interview with the creators hinted at going in other directions. Look forward to see what they are up to. :)

Still not sure how I feel about Frankenstein being on the show (though I LOVED the black and white at the end!), but pretty solid episode tonight! Robert Carlyle steals every scene he's in when he's got a more supporting role (unlike last week which I thought was too much of him).

Now...
