I'm watching it right now
it's on at Noon in Chicago? WOW, we don't get it til 3PM here
Its on at 10 am here, but its on like 3 times a day. Morning, afternoon, and around midnight.
i wonder when oprah knew she was gay...
yeah, we get it here at 3PM, then again out of LA at 4PM, and then at 11PM
"i wonder when oprah knew she was gay"
probably when Gayle licked her down there
I'm so glad I won't be home to see this at either airing. I'd be compelled to watch and I'm sure Oprah's smug lack of non-judgement would make me puke.
maybe oprah will have giftbags with wet, trojans and nipple clamps under each of the audience members' seats...
I can't decide if Oprah is homophobic or not. She has tons of gay people on her show, surrounds herself by them, but when I see her talk on the subject she seems smug and a bit distant. She talked about the gay rumors recently and said she was "devastated" by them. So what? It's such a bad thing to be gay? I understand it's a shame to be labeled something you're not but "devastated". Oh come on Oprah, you and Gayle wear the same ring on the same finger, even if it's not true, people ARE going to talk.

I think Oprah is afraid to talk on such a hot button issue. She never speaks on politicized issues, unless the issue is combatting apathy (ie, Africa relief). So, the fact that she is bringing this topic up is, I think, very important.
She's not a gay person, and I doubt that she is THAT educated on the subject...she's just like most of America -- formed an opinion one day and have stuck with it since.
maybe she's still traumatized by the beef trial a few years back and wants to stay away from "hot button" issues...
I happened to see the Oprah after the tsunami when she had designer Nate Berkus on talking about his experience and the loss of his lover. It was very moving and she didn't seem uncomfortable at all.
that was a very moving show but not once did nate refer to his deceased partner as his lover. it was alluded to and certainly apparent to many but still vague enough for other people not to pick-up on.
I recall the term "friend" used, not "lover" or "partner". It struck me as hedging.
I know she said partner at least once. I know on her website they called him his partner at one point.
I have heard her refer to gay couples who are friends of hers as "partners." However, I believe there is a difference in mentioning that a couple is a couple, as opposed to actually discussing being gay as a topic. That's where she gets a little too too.
at one point on her website it did say "partner" but was quickly changed to "friend" a short while later. i got the impression, though, that it was out of respect for nate's partner's family. (sorry i can not remember his name)
Minorities who are even remotely homophobic or put off by homosexuality baffle me.
Bobby, society still dictates that being gay is not something you are born with, different from skin color/culture/race.

Billy Porter is supposed to be on the show today...any word from him yet? Will he be singing something gay?
Edit: That's a redundant question. I'll rephrase: Will he be singing?
Anyone who doesn't believe that there is a gay "culture" just needs to spend five minutes reading the banter from the mo's on this site.

Yes, but I would think Oprah would instantly understand and be able to quickly parallel the gay experience to her struggles as a woman of color. As should other minorities. I'm just amazed how many people want equal rights for themselves but not others.

He just talked about when he knew he was gay and struggling with it and all that.
On the topic on Oprah and homosexuality, it does seem like she's kind of shyed away from actually discussing it deeply in the past, but I thought this episode was pretty decent. Maybe she's realizing that someone has to be the one to bring these things up and discuss them out in the open.
It took her twenty years to have that realization?
On the flip side, I love how Tyra Banks ebraces gay men and out culture on both her tv shows. She adores drag queens too.
