Reviving this thread to say that the family friend I spoke of is getting a test tomorrow (I think she called it some sort of scan) and I think Thursday is when she'll find out if the chemo worked or if the cancer is still there. I'm really nervous for her but hopeful as well. Any good thoughts or prayers you can send would be appreciated.

I'll send lots of good thoughts! The test she is having is probably a PET scan; a test in which fast-growing cancer cells light up. They can measure tumor size and also how metabolically active they are. I hope she has an extraordinary report!
As for my update, I'm hanging in there. My results with chemo-lite (a medication that hasn't made my hair fall out!!!) have been so-so. I suspect I will be having a discussion about new follicle-killing treatment options soon. Bummer... (Note to self: get the wig back from Robbie J...) Yes, my "hair" has appeared on stage professionally, alas, not on MY head.

iflitifloat - yes, a PET scan. And it caught another tumor on her liver. *sigh* I really don't know how to put that into context as far as future options and treatments go. I just got a text from her son so haven't had a chance to get any more info than that.

What they thought was another tumor on the scan turned out to be a shadow of scar tissue - she is healthy for now!! WOOHOO
