re: Pet Peeves

The phrase "It is what it is"...people use this when they don't want to face up to their hurtful actions and you call them out on it...drives me crazy.

re: Pet Peeves

Boobs, I hear you. I dated someone who would say, "it's neither here nor there." I mean, WTF, what is that supposed to mean. He would always use that phrase as a way of not being accountable for anything.

re: Pet Peeves

Yes Dottie...my EX idiot sister-in-law used that phrase all the time ...I would always ask her and my brother what that meant and they would just say "you know"...now if I knew why would I ask? Who comes up with these?

re: Pet Peeves

My biggest pet peeve at the moment is when I'm cooking a meal and somebody comes into the kitchen and gets a big ol' bowl of chips or something. You can't wait another 20 minutes for something to eat? Seriously? It drives me nuts!

People who talk on cell phones in a library!!!!

re: Pet Peeves

Walkon, don't even get me started on people's cellphone usage (i.e., two way radio conversations on the bus just makes my blood boil).

re: Pet Peeves

Wow, here I am bumping and old thread and I was going to post about cell phone usage.

I have a neighbor across the street and every time he's home and on the phone, he walks outside and has his conversations out on the sidewalk. He's VERY loud, and I assume that his voice is BOOMING inside his house. I'm guessing that's why he goes outside to talk.

But he's so loud, and everyone can hear him. I just want to throw something heavy at him.

re: Pet Peeves

I hate loud people on phones, especially cellphones, like the rest of us don't exist?

In Philly last Monday at the airport this guy kept walking back and forth near me talking very loud on his cellphone. After about 10 minutes I got up and told him to take it elsewhere as he was so loud people in Pittsburgh were complaining.......he went and talked somewhere else.......

re: Pet Peeves

When we were flying back from Michigan, at one of the lay overs, there was a woman who was making her 'Holiday Calls' from the terminal.

She was so loud, and every conversation was the same:

"Yea, I'm sitting her in the airport! Everything's great! BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH!"

About 20 different times. EVERYONE was shooting her looks and she just didn't get it.

I finally went over to her and said, "Everyone within this terminal knows all of your plans for the Hoildays. Shut the --- up."

re: Pet Peeves

reminds me of the guy on the train from Paris to Brussels......and the car we were in was clearly marked all over the place with pictures of a cellphone with a circle around it and line drawn through it meaning NO phone use in that car.
This guy was so obnoxious, that at the start of his third call I went and got the guy who was checking tickets........who made him hang up.
The guy a few minutes later started cursing me in French, and I simply said "blah, blah, blah" over and over and moving my hand like a mouth. He finally stopped and it was quiet the rest of the way.......idiots

re: Pet Peeves

A woman did that on Metro North recently. We were waiting for the train to leave Grand Central, and she was on the phone with someone telling them all the details of the medical procedure she'd had done that morning. The engine wasn't even on yet, so it was unusually quiet anyway, but she still used an "outdoor voice" if I've ever heard one. Not only was I going home sick that afternoon, but her recounting the details of her fluid removal didn't exactly help my stomach.

re: Pet Peeves

I am also OVER my cat deciding the kitchen sink is his new home, and his infatuation with the iron.

Last night (we have a double kitchen sink) we walked over and turned the water on in the other sink, and he freaked.......but this iron thing is getting ridiculous.

Whenever Steve pulls it out (the iron you dirty minded people!) the cat is RIGHT there........it's truly ridiculous

Fortunately ironing is against my religion so I don't have the problem, but I am tired of playing referee between the two

re: Pet Peeves

oh misschung I would have had a ball with that one.....I would have started to ask her all kinds of questions.......

and what about these idiots that answer phones when they are on a toilet in a public restroom??
Hello......no one wants to hear your business, we are all trying to take care of OUR business.......I start talking back when that happens, pretending I didn't hear them on the phone......usually stops them dead in their tracks

Oh, I confess to doing that. But I don't talk loudly, and usually I do tell people that I'll call them back.

re: Pet Peeves

Diva, my neighbor does the same thing. Only he's next door and he comes out onto the porch, which is right behind my bedroom window. He's very stentorian, with the most annoying voice, too. This particular morning I wasn't in the mood for his bullSH*T and told him to STFU for the first time. It was freezing outside and yet he was out there yapping away, in a T-shirt no less.

Annoying, isn't it.

My newest pet peeve is some sock puppet (stevespencer411) who just joined and is posting my first name on the board, like he's blowing some sort of cover for me.

I guess I should be flattered I have a stalker.
