Phyllis, if I saw that image waiting for me when I died I would assume that I was going to hell, since that looks like the type of doll that comes to life at night and terrorizes you until it finally decides to kill you.

I don't think it really has anything to do with "courtesy" but rather the fact that everyone is different.
Personally, I'm a night owl and have been known to stay up until the wee small hours of the morning. If I have the need for a late might gab session with one of my friends I know which ones I can call and which ones I can't. I call the other night owls because they'll be up. And I don't think that's anything "new". There have always been nightowls who may have been friends with other nightowls.
Also, up until recently a very good friend of mine was four hours behind me. So 10pm for me was 6pm for her. If I wanted to chat with her when she got home from work I had to wait until 10pm, 11pm, or even midnight.
The world is "smaller" than it was today and I think more people have friends in other time zones than they did 30 years ago.
How do we know that these kids were local? Or that they were calling locally? Maybe they were calling someone in Seattle to tell them about the show.

Why don't we wait until 5am and tell him that a school needs a sub. And then we'll all go to the school and wait for him to show up and there's no need for a sub.

I never call anyone's house phone after 9:00 PM; 11:00 PM for cell phones.
I hate receiveing calls and text messages between 11:00 PM and 8:00 AM, mainly from fear of receiving bad news that someone died or something.

I once got a phone call at 11:30 PM. Thinking that someone had died, I panicked. Little did I know it was my friend crying about how her best friend seemed to have dropped her for a guy.
Couple of months ago, I got a text message at 2:30 AM. Again, thinking something bad had happened, it was another friend telling me she ran into her ex and it was awkward.
Seriously, why do people come to me with their problems at all hours of the night? I think I should make a new rule when giving out my number to people.

Um, I was definitely joking and it was rhetorical. I enjoy being a good friend to my peeps no matter the time of day, hence why people always come to vent on me. I was just giving a couple of examples of how I get calls after 9 PM, thinking someone died but it's usually something less significant.

Oddly, I'd take it as a positive thing that a group of kids were inspired enough by theater that they wanted to share their thoughts with you.

I have no problem with people calling/texting late at night, I just might not always answer it (I'm more likely to answer a late night text than answer a phone call, though). I'm not much of a night person, so I'm normally in bed by 10-10:30.
As for school, my first period class in high school always started at 7:20, but my bus would always get me to the school by 6:50. Most teachers would also hold meetings for students in the mornings if the weren't understanding the classwork or needed help, since that was a time when both teacher and student would be free. I had it better than most kids since I made sure I went to bed by 10 most nights (a lot stayed up until 2 or 3 in the morning), but it was still brutal. Even my first period teachers didn't even want to do much.

I think we also need to take into account that Dollypop eats dinner around 4pm and is up around 4am to walk the mall before it opens so those 9pm calls are actually very disrupting.

that's the problem with cell phones these days... because most of us carry it with us everywhere we go, most people think that means you should answer it every damn time it rings or you get a text... or that we can call or text whenever we can... i hate that article a while back that stated that voice mail is dead and no one uses it anymore and that we should just get rid of it... even my friends think that! no we shouldn't! i don't want to answer my phone all the damn time!!! if you want to get a hold of me, leave me a message if it's important and i'll call back... if you don't leave me a message but i can see a missed call... then i know it's not that important for me to call you back this very instant... eh... i just think a lot of people with cell phones want to believe they are more important than they are... and it doesn't make you a bad friend if you don't pick up a call at 1am! it just means you value your sleep and time to yourself rather than fixating on your friends' problems with a break up!

I don't always leave a voicemail when I call someone. If I'm calling just to chat I won't leave a voicemail. If I'm calling and it's something important that I need a response to I will leave a voicemail.
