I usually stay away from Mother's Day threads, not wanting to spoil everyone's parties, but since others in this thread have posted pictures of mothers who left too soon, Miss P, here goes:

Thank you guys for the compliments about my mother. What made her even more beautiful was the fact that she was kind, compassionate, generous, forgiving and unselfish. Add to this combination smart, witty and a lot of fun and, well...she was hard to measure up to. But what an amazing role model I had!

Of course, I didn't even bother trying to be as attractive as she was. That would be impossible! But I do try to emulate the person she was.

Everyone's moms are just lovely! Here's a picture of my mom and I goofing around on our family vacation to Hawaii last year. The second is my mom, dad, brother, and me on my 21st birthday two years ago.

It's funny, but I look at everyone's moms in these pictures and I can totally see that they have the kind of spirits that would inspire and encourage their kids to love the performing and literary arts.

Does anyone else sense that?

That IS a gorgeous photo, John...and not just because it reminds me of MY mother (which it does)!

Here's one of my mom that, for decades, hung on the wall of the restaurant La Scala on West 54th Street (right across the street from the Ziegfeld Theatre.)

Did I mention she was a talented singer?

And a more recent one, from last July when she was back home visiting (she's lived in GA for the past 3 years)




And for good measure -- my godmother -- who's always been SO much of a mom to me. This picture is from my most recent birthday. It's alarming how much alike we are. And for the record, neither of us can tell you what the hell was so funny.
