This is in danger of not passing.
Please call 1-800-786-2663 and ask your Senators to support the Santorum-Durbin Amendment for global AIDS funding. This money goes to the Global Fund (the main agency that combats AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria in the world. This amendment will cover 1/3 of the money needed to sustain the current programs.
The Santorum-Durbin amendment is a total of $3.7 billion to combat global AIDS, TB, malaria and research in the FY2006 budget. This would include $800 million for the Global Fund and full support for the President's request of $2.9 billion for the bilateral programs of PEPFAR.

Let's put Rick Santorum in perpective.
Rick Santorum compares homosexuality to bestiality and incest. He battles the AIDS epidemic in Africa and the Caribbean, because it's easier than doing the same thing here in the United States, where he consistently fails to support effective HIV prevention and treatment.
Instead he mindlessly panders to the fears of his constituents with gay bashing, opposition to condom use as a prevention strategy, and pushing for abstinence-only programs. Meanwhile HIV-infection rates continue to increase drastically among African Americans and Latinos.
Pass this bill but don't give Rick Santorum a pass. He's up for re-election and should be defeated.
