So much hate for the Pope.

I've given up on discussing this with my friends who keep posting the same misinterpreted headlines about this, but apparently this is one of the best things ever for gay people. No one can tell me why that is, but they know this is great news!

It amuses me that the same people who are angry because every gay person isn't kissing the pope's ring as a result of this don't seem to have ONE WORD to say about the church's centuries of abuse of gays (not to mention women, children, Jews . . .).

Reggie, its not fair to blame the current Pope or The Church on what happened in the 12 century with this one, any more then it is to blame Obama or the USA for how Andrew Jackson anniliated the Indians.

But who will replace the Pope who said it was discrimination against children to be raised by gay parents?

Also, it seems like this - It is understood he has taken out mortgages against church property and Jeune Afrique claims the diocese is now six billion Cameroon Francs in debt ($12million €9million) - is a more likely reason for the resignation. Updated On: 7/31/13 at 03:34 PM

I'll agree that changing rhetoric can indicate more important changes. It's certainly interesting that this bishop's replacement happened right on the heels of the pope's statement regarding gay priests, though there's no clear indication of any connection.

It'll be interesting to see what, if anything, happens next.

Maybe I'm missing something, but there doesn't seem to be any room for compromise.
