Project Runway 5

Posted: 7/11/08 at 7:00pmI'm excited it's coming back so soon. PR is the perfect summer show! And it'll be back to back with Shear Genius, which isn't the best show, but still, better than some of the crap on network tv.

The show will definitely have a different flavor if it is produced and shot in LA. All shows do.( It will interesting to see how Conan's show changes when he moves to LA.)
I also don't think it will do as well on Lifetime as Bravo. Perhaps during the move they will jump the shark.

So she's with Marie Claire now, huh.....thanks Scott!
If Tim Gunn were to leave the show I don't think it would be nearly as good. I love his little "Gunn-isms"
Make it Work!!!!! Carry On!!!!
And that season that Andre was on? AAAHN-DRE! The montage of Andre stuff on the reunion show had me literally in tears of laughter.

Tim Gunn is definitely staying with the show (thank god!). There was an interview with him fairly recently about the move.
Gunn isn’t worried about his endless work schedule. What really freaks him out is the idea of moving to Los Angeles when Project Runway switches to Lifetime for season six. 'Can I be honest with you?' he said. 'I'm panicky about it, and the whole idea of moving to a place that has a big car culture has me apoplectic.' Gunn won’t be moving to Los Angeles permanently but will have to stay there for a whole five weeks while the season films. He says he’s not even sure he wants to get an apartment: “I may have a little lean-to inside the set, wherever it is, so I don't have to worry about travel.” At least, unlike most New Yorkers, he knows how to drive. He just isn’t sure he knows how to drive in L.A. 'I'm not a good highway person,” he said. 'I'm much better at back roads. I'll make it work.'"

It's an interesting situation for Bravo. They obviously want the show to deliver the ratings, but they don't want to invest too much in it, as it will be leaving them after this season. The show has enough recognition that it will find an audience without a tremendous PR investment from Bravo this time around.
The move to Lifetime allows incumbent advertisers and marketers to have right of first refusal for the sponsorship and integrated concepts. Marketplace increases are a part of the continuing conversation. But, it's true that Harvey Weinstein drives a hard, and some would say greedy, bargain.
It's expected that Season 6, which is the first season on Lifetime, will have a tremendous amount of PR and interest, given the switch of networks, possible sponsors and 'cast'.
It's an interesting business.

Posted: 7/12/08 at 8:26pmI thought I read an article that said for Season 6, Nina,Micheal,Hiedi, and Tim have all signed on. Tresemme(sp?) still had there spot. And Marie Claire will start getting notes here and there in the show.

Posted: 7/13/08 at 10:41amDottie, I have up cable as well, but someone always posts the episode on a certain site within 24 hours of airing.

Posted: 7/13/08 at 1:56pmIsn't "Project Runway" Bravo's biggest show? Perhaps that's why they haven't felt the need to advertise season 5 so much.

The cast members (aka contestants) have finally been announced!

I remember Heidi mentioning a potential romance in the cast this season. Fingers crossed for Wesley and Daniel!

Hahah, it's fine! I don't really expect people to read my signature.
I don't mean to be rude, but... this Terri chick seems to have a lot in common with upcoming guest judge RuPaul... just saying. It's so odd that they've announced the gust judges and basic concepts for all the episodes this season, too!
From Andy Cohen's blog:
"There have been a lot of online conspiracy theories over the last few weeks regarding why we've waited so long to spill the beans about the designer’s identities, etc. Here's the reason we waited until today: we just wrapped shooting season 5 on Saturday (two days ago) and we wanted no info released until the last auf wiedersehen til the finale.
Imagine if you saw promos on Bravo showing a guy with asymmetrical hair smack talking about how he was going to win the show, then you ran into him at Mood last Thursday, and then knew yourself that he made it til close to the end. And then you told two friends, and they told two friends, and so on, and so on. (I used to love that commercial why doesn't someone remake it??) Anyway, we don't love that scenario so we very deliberately steered away from how we've done things in year's past to protect the designers' identities, and protect the production."

Interesting!
Shoot now I have that commercial running through my head, with the image of the screen splitting over and over and over.

Bumping this because it premieres tonight.
And I came across this:
Whoopi's Gown

#44re: Project Runway 5

Is this more your taste?:)
#46re: Project Runway 5
Posted: 7/16/08 at 6:45pmLOL! No. Whoopie needs a new stylist all around.

Posted: 7/16/08 at 10:25pmDisappointing - didn't like the Gristede's challenge the first time, or this time either. Thought they chose the right winner, but they could have eliminated about 6 people based on their results tonight.

Eh, it was fine. Judging by the promo shots of the designers' earlier work, I'm excited to see what they put out. The challenge itself was underwhelming, but I mean, if you were dumped in a grocery store to make clothes out of anything, wouldn't you gravitate towards cloth-like materials?
*very minor spoilers*
Daniel and Terri were my favorites (although Daniel's kind of made her look fat), but I wasn't disappointed with the winner. And the person who went home DEFINITELY deserved to.
