Frowned upon where I work.
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

definitely frowned upon. I see that as unprofessional and cowardly.

Quitting by phone is still unacceptable... and it's been around MUCH longer.

Or a Post-It.

I did it in December at holiday time. I had my reasons, so they had it coming. I think if you can't give adequate time, it's not really excusable.

Hee- at my old job there were *so many* people who quit via voicemail, including the one who quit via voicemail after two days, and the one who left a voicemail over Christmas vacation (when the office was closed) saying pretty much "yeah, so I'm not coming back after New Years, ok bye." Good times, good times.

how about a combination of not showing up, leaving a really lame excuse on voicemail as to why and then four days later sending an email to your superior when you know they won't get it for awhile and just leaving mid-day? that's still acceptable, right?

email is completely acceptable as long as you include three lols and two smiley faces (winkies are still inappropriate).

Send an IM - then immediately block them. Seems to work for some people.

I've had an employee quit on me via text message. I think that's the worst. I mean, you're already holding a phone...just call for ****'s sake. E-mail is a close second.
